‘Hi mom Robert greeted’

Mrs. Chinenye was so surprised to see her son with her eyes twinkling with mirth and her lips twisted into a sardonic smile.

Robert just landed from the UK days back, so he decided to surprise her mom by not telling her that he was around. Robert aimed to come to Nigeria and look for a good wife that suited his personality.

Robert is the only child of his parent, he lost his dad when he was 10 years old in a fatal accident while they were traveling and since then Robert was the only thing Mrs.Chinenye had apart from all the wealth and everything Robert’s dad had willed to Mrs.Chinenye and her Robert.

Why didn’t you tell me that you were coming? Mrs. Chinenye asked

I just wanted to surprise you, mom

What did you cook Mom? I'm famished and I’ve missed your food.

Don’t worry I’ll quickly prepare your favorite for you, just go upstairs and shower while I go into the kitchen to prepare your favorite.

Alright, mom, I'll be waiting. Robert replied while he went upstairs to take a shower.

A few hours later, Mrs. Chinenye had gone upstairs to call Chinenye for dinner.

Robert, dinner is ready

Ok, Mom, I’ll join you shortly

Robert had gone downstairs to join his mom, while they were eating Mrs.Chinenye brought up the issue of Robert getting married and giving her grandchildren which got Robert angry that he had to stand up to leave the food.

‘Robert’ she called

Yes, Mom, Robert answered

When are you bringing my daughter-in-law?

Mom! Not again please, can you just allow me to eat in peace? He asked furiously

Is just a harmless question, Robert

Robert take a look at yourself, do you think you are getting any younger? My friend, you better think in that direction, I need grandchildren, she said furiously.

Of course, I know you need grandchildren but right now marriage is not on my agenda, he replied

What's on your agenda? am asking

Hey, I need grandchildren and that's it, she insisted

Mom, I haven’t found the woman that I’d love to get married to, Robert said

Really? Don’t worry, I’ve gotten a perfect match for you, She suggested

Seriously? You expect me to just marry the girl you just picked from the street, what happens to love? He asked

Mom, since you don’t want me to eat this food in peace, I think I need to go upstairs, I have things to attend to.

Robert stood up angrily and went upstairs to his room and he locked himself inside. After some time, he thought about what his mom was saying and he told himself that he wasn’t getting any younger but, Robert never had any luck dating good women. The ones he came across were always after his money, that's why he decided to stay away from women.

Robert concluded that he was going to disguise himself as a driver in his father’s company in other to see who would love him the way he is.

On the other hand, Mrs.Chinenye was worried that her son had refused to speak to her after what she said. She had to go upstairs to speak to knock on his room.

Robert! Robert!! Robert!!! She calls out

Please am so sorry for getting you upset, I won't talk about it again whenever you are ready to get me a daughter-in-law. It is fine by me, please I can't stay without talking to you sweetheart.

Robert couldn't hold the words of his mom cause she was all he had, he had to open the door for the mom.

‘I'm sorry Mom’ he apologized

It’s okay my dear. She hugged him tightly

Mom, I have an idea

What’s the idea all about?

I overheard you calling the agency that you needed a driver.

Yes, I do cause my legs are paining me seriously, but what has it got to do with the ideas that you said that you have?

I want to disguise myself as your driver, mom

Why do you want to do that? she asked, looking so confused.

Mom, I can’t get a good wife if I keep allowing them to know that am wealthy

Ok, if that’s what you want it’s fine by me. Just make sure that you submit your CV first thing tomorrow morning.

Thank you so much mom, he said

One more thing Mom, he interrupted

And what's that Robert? she asked

Who is the girl I saw in the office the last time I visited you at the office?

‘Oh’ that's Gabriella, my new secretary, she's a very hardworking girl, she was staying here with me and as a matter of fact, I got her an apartment two months ago.

Wow, that's good. Mom, I need to go to bed. It's past 11 pm already and we'll talk tomorrow.

Goodnight darling, she pecked him on his cheeks.

The next morning, Mrs.Chinenye had woken up very early to prepare breakfast for her son, while she was trying to set the table Robert came downstairs to greet his mom.

Good morning Mom, Robert greeted

Good morning, sweetheart, she replied

Hope you slept well. She asked

Yes, Mom, I did

Ok, that's nice, I was trying to set the table for breakfast but all thanks to God that you are here, so just go and brush and come downstairs for breakfast.

Ok Ma, I'll do just that

Robert had gone upstairs to brush. After he had finished brushing he had to come downstairs to have his breakfast, while they ate their food their doorbell rang and he rushed to check who was at the door. It occurred to be his old-time friend.

‘Hi Robert’ Louis greeted

Louis is this you? he asked in shock

Louis was his old-time friend at school who happened to be Victor's brother.

Yes, it's me, he replied with so much satisfaction

Wow, please come in

Robert took him in and Louis greeted Robert's mom. She invited him to join them, while they were eating Mrs.Chinenye stood up to get ready for work and told Louis to feel comfortable.

‘Robert’ she called, to make sure Louis was comfortable and didn't forget our agreement.

Sure, Mom, I won't forget bye Mom

Robert, how are you doing? Louis asked

Am good Louis, Robert answered

Hope you brought all the goodies from the UK for me cause I wouldn't want to hear any excuse from you. Louis asked

Sure, you can always get whatever thing you want, and what of your brother? Robert asked

He's fine now, so any girl? Louis inquired of

Louis was decidedly nervous, squirming in the chair while his head went through the question he asked.

Not yet, Louis, he replied

Why, what's happening Robert, you have the money so what are you waiting for? he said with so much anger and he was agitated.

Don't worry, I'm working on that, I'll be leaving for my father's company right now, I have something to do there for my mom.

Robert because I talked about you having a girlfriend you are angry and you are telling me that you have something to do. Don't worry I'll leave now, Louis said while he worked out furiously.

Robert tried to make him understand that he didn't mean to get him upset but all to no avail.
