Part 3: Radiance Chapter 5 Humans are superstitious things. They dare not venture out into the night on a full moon, though some insist it is the new moon which brings ill omen. When it rained for weeks at a time and drowned their crops, they suspected their women of witchcraft and drowned one or two in the swollen fields. A wolf attack in the spring meant a lamb left out on the moors at night. A wolf attack in autumn meant a ram was sent wandering into the dark. A dragon sighting resulted in increased church attendance and smearing blood on each citizen’s forehead for protection.
