Chapter 39When Jesus was done speaking to the crowd and healing the sick, he and his disciples left the courtyard. As they did, many of the people followed. The three outsiders mixed with the group and followed along. As soon as possible they broke away and moved down a side road and waited. They watched for anyone following them, hoping that they had managed to slip away unnoticed. When they were comfortable that they were alone, they went back to their room. It was now past the mid-point of the day, and they needed to eat and make plans.
As they moved down the alley toward their room, Paul was looking carefully at the walls. About three-quarters of the way to their room, Paul spotted what he was looking for. There was a loose rock in the wall, about ten inches from the ground.
