– 7 – After the unrewarding session with Elena, Cory felt relieved to see her longtime patient Larry seated in the waiting room. “Hi, Doc. Good to see you.” Cory smiled. “How come you’re so early today?” “Working at home now, I manage my time more efficiently. My co-workers can’t interrupt me asking me to stop what I’m doing to help them with their work.” A passive man, Larry had found a way to avoid saying “No.” “Your boss will notice how valuable you are.” Larry was a brilliant man, devoted to his engineering career. He instinctively knew how mechanical things worked, but he needed to feel better about himself, to stand up to those who would take advantage of him. Larry was in treatment with Cory for two years. Progress was slow, but both felt it was worth the baby steps he’d take
