NIKOLAI'S P.O.V I sat on the edge of the bed as I fixed the duvet around Iris. I had expected this. All of it. But I had underestimated how much it would break me seeing her so broken. I had not realized how nuch she meant to me and how her tears seemed to rain down on me. I held her hand, tiny as ever and warm. A single tear was still running down below her left eyelid, and I reached out to wipe it away. Ever since I was diagnosed close to six years ago, and they told me how I couldn't be cured of the heart disease, I simply gave up.
