CHAPTER TEN
Madeleine, Hilary and Princess Candera were shown to a chamber with three beds carved out of rock along the wall. They were to stay here until they made a decision about what they wanted to do.
“Do we even know if the route back to Asperia is open?” said Hilary.
“According to the Dwarves it exits just outside the city of Asperios, so chances are it is under Dark Elven control,” said Madeleine.
“What else can we do?” asked Princess Candera.
“We can stay here, and wait the war out,” said Madeleine.
“But there is nothing to do here. Also, for all the Dwarves’ technology, are they going to be able to hold out for long?” said Hilary.
“True. The other alternatives are the Isle of Deadly Souls…” said Madeleine.
“…where we would be eaten by flesh-eating Zombies!” interjected Princess Candera.
“…or going to Ulrica again. Though it’s anyone’s guess what the situation is there now,” said Madeleine.
“Well, I think we should go to Ulrica and take our chances. We might be able to join up with what is left of the Intacan Crusaders,” said Princess Candera.
“I wouldn’t get your hopes up. But it does seem like the only sensible choice. We’ll need help getting out of the tunnels, unless the rope Malcolm tied to a tree is still there,” said Hilary.
“I’ll get the Dwarves to help us,” said Madeleine.
With that Madeleine went off to find the Dwarven Queen and inform her of their intention of going to Ulrica. Several burly female Dwarven warriors escorted them across the Dwarven Realm to the tunnel to Ulrica. Luckily the rope that Malcolm tied was still there after all these months and it was easy for the women to get out.
