CHAPTER FORTY
Everyone stopped. Trelio, Madeleine, Kolan and the others saw that troops surrounded them loyal to Talomere. Madeleine took the All-Seeing Eye and placed it on the ground beside her and rested her sword just above it.
“We want to talk to Talomere,” shouted Madeleine.
There was a grumble of noise from the troops. Eventually the old figure of Talomere arrived near the front of the crowd.
“You are surrounded. If you surrender then I will make sure you live to see my triumph,” said Talomere.
“I have the All-Seeing Eye. I will destroy it if any of you try anything,” said Madeleine, pointing at the Eye with her sword.
“You assume I still want the Eye,” said Talomere.
“If you didn’t, we’d already be dead,” said Madeleine.
“I again see that you know more than you should,”
