Chapter 8: Visions

*** Genevieve POV ***

                This week has been crazy to say the least. It’s Friday and we’ve had three consultations, four

wedding venue appointments, none were chosen, and a small retirement party. To say this has been

an eventful week is an understatement. However, as first weeks go, since it was my first week in a new

position, it was still really nice.

                I was able to pack up the majority of my apartment and I already sold all of my items that I

needed to with the exception of my bed, but I do have a buy lined up for that as well to pick up today. I

had wanted to wait on taking my jug of coins to the bank until I had sold all of my items since I could just

deposit it all at once, but since I’d be selling the bed today and officially moving into the packhouse I’d

be able to take deposit all of my coins.

                I pulled into the parking lot at my apartment and saw that the buyer was there already. We

exchanged pleasantries and I brought her up into the apartment. She looked at the condition and

realized that it was in good condition so she still wanted it. She paid my asking price for it. Her and I

were able to take it apart quickly and load it up, the entire exchange only took about thirty minutes

which gave me plenty of time to go to the bank.

                I hated this part of collecting coins. I never had the arm strength for any of this, and the fact that

I needed to do this while carrying it down the stairs was going to kill me. As I pulled the last jug out into

the living room I heard a knock at my door. I opened and I saw a miracle, Jack was standing there looking

as handsome as ever.

                “Oh thank the lord!! I wanted to take these to my car, but I wasn’t sure how I was going to carry

It, I would’ve ended up falling down the stairs faster than a knife fight in a phone booth. Since you’re do

you think that you can carry them?” I look up at him and give him my best puppy dog eyes. He laughs

and says, “Darlin’, there’s no need to give me those eyes. I’m more than willin’ to help you.” He bent

down and picked up two at once. My eyes almost bugged out of my head.

                “Wha…. What?? How can you carry them like that? I mean I know you’re built like a d*mn tank

you jolly green giant they’re still heavy as f*ck.” I state.

He laughs and just kisses me on the forehead then heads downstairs. I go over to the balcony

and unlock my car then I head back in just in time to see Jack coming back through the door again.

I look back at the balcony and back at Jack again. “How did you get back up here so quickly?” I

asked completely shocked.

“It’s werewolf speed, Darlin’.” I nod my head and get back to packing up. By the time one box

was full of what I needed to go Jack had already packed up my car and was waiting on me. I grabbed

my purse and we went to the bank. It took a while since there was a line, then because counting the

coins took so long eventually we were able to determine that the total amount that I had in coins was

$21,704.38. That gave me $38,639.85 not including the money I received from selling my items. I was so

excited when I walked out of the bank. I knew that I could now afford my down payment on the car I

wanted and I had plenty left over. I’d definitely keep it in savings and use it for a rainy day.

                I got in the passenger seat of my vehicle and started to get confused. I heard this distorted

noise. I slowly look over at Jack and realize that he’s talking to me. It turns out the noise was him

speaking. His facial expression is one of confusion and worry and I see him start to reach out to me.

                I try to reach back out to him, but I can lift any of my arms. With the last bit of energy I had I tell

him, “Jack, baby, I think I’m having another vision.” Then everything goes black.

                I’m terrified. I’m shaking and sweating. My adrenalin is through the roof. As I’m running up to

my apartment I look back since I feel like someone is watching me. As my eyes scan the parking lot at my

apartment complex I notice a familiar red truck. But then something happens, my vision changes from

the first one and I see myself in an unfamiliar room. I can’t move, but I can hear breathing. I look over

where the noise is coming from and I see red eyes in the corner. I feel terrified as if I’m facing down

something pure evil… it takes a moment and the eyes change and become dull, I see the person step out

into what little light there is in the room and I see Tanner. He comes up to me and bends down. I realize

then that I’m on a mattress, and my arms and legs are tied. I start to shake thinking of what could

possibly happen.

                He moved my hair away from my face and speaks, “Hello, my love. I know that it’s been awhile

and you thought that I couldn’t find you, but alas no matter what form you’re in I. Will. Always. Find.

You.” He enunciated each word and then leaned close, and I turned my head the other way and leaned

away as far as I could. I felt his lips on my leg and it took everything in me to hold the bile that rose in my

throat. “Now we’ll be together forever, my queen. My love. My life.” He whispers in my ear.

I woke up sweating and confused. I realized that I was in Jack’s arms and he was combing his

fingers through my hair. It felt really nice so I stayed like that for a second and just breathed.

“Would you like to talk about it, sweetheart?” Jack asked softly. I still don’t know how I ever got

paired with a man as sweet as Jack. I look over at him and stare into his eyes. I can’t help, but get lost in

them. I lean in to kiss him and it starts to go deeper when he pulls away.

“Darlin’, as much as I want you, I’m not sure that that right after a vision is the best time. I’m

sure that you’re drained and I want to know what happened.” I pouted even though I knew he was right.

Plus, I didn’t want my first time with him to be in a car that’s in a parking lot.

                “You’re right. I don’t like it, but you’re right.” He chuckles at me, “Ok, so now tell me about your

vision.”

                I recite what I saw and experienced. I explain to him that I was very confused by some of the

things Tanner said. I knew that he wanted me, but it, also, seemed like he didn’t. It seemed like he

thought I was someone else by saying ‘no matter what form you’re in’. Jack growled when I recanted the

last portion of the vision.

                When I finished, Jack looked deep in thought. “I don’t know what he meant by any of that. I bet

the vision changed because you’ll no longer by at your apartment. I hate that both of these visions have

been of you being kidnapped. We need to do something about that. I want to look into getting you a

bodyguard. Maybe Eddie or Harry can do it?” He questions half to himself. He looks over and my gives

me another kiss, then puts the car in drive and takes me home again. On the way there he calls the guys

and invites them over to the apartment. He tells them to bring two of the trucks that they have so that

both Jojo and I can fit all of our stuff in at once without having to make multiple trips.

                As we were packing up to leave, I take some items down by myself sine the other items weren’t

ready quite yet. I felt a tingle on the back of my neck. I look around and see a truck, a red truck. THE red

truck. I’m the only one down in the parking lot. Everyone else is up in the apartments getting the next

round of items to bring down. I look at where the driver would be in the car and I see a figure. It takes a

minute before my vision focuses and I see who it is, Tanner. I realize the gravity of my situation and I

become terrified. I start to shake and sweat. I feel the adrenalin coursing through my veins. I start to run

back to the apartment. I realize that this is my vision, my first vision. Before I can follow through on the

events of the vision I immediately take in a breath and scream as loud as I’m able to. I feel the skin on

the back of my neck tingle even stronger. I see Eddie running out of the building towards to me. I see

the fear in his eyes, but then I see him start to become angry and determine, but he’s not looking at me.

He’s looking behind me. I realize that there must be someone behind me, I don’t want to turn around

and face my fears. I start to get up the courage to do so while I’m still running towards him, but before I

can fully do that I feel a hand on my shoulder. My adrenalin goes higher than I’ve ever experienced.

Before I can comprehend what’s happening I feel a force so strong push itself out of me in all directions.

                I collapse on the ground exhausted. I feel arms wrap around me I look up to see Eddie helping

me to my feet. I look around me and see, thankfully, there were no other cars around, but what little

trees and bushes that were close to me were all torn from the ground. Eddie starts to drag me to the

apartment building and I look behind me to see the back of a woman with long brown hair getting in the

red truck. She was limping. I turned back to Eddie in complete shock.

                “Did I do this?” He nods his head and says, “Yes, it was insane. It was like some unseen force

was coming from you determine to protect you. I was about to shift when you did that. It blew the

woman at least 20 feet. Thankfully my wolf, Charlie, was taken over in my human form and was able to

stop us from flying back too much.”

                “Thank you so much for coming to me. I thought my first vision was about to come true, I didn’t

think that he’d be trying so soon after my first vision. Normally I have at least a month before I they

come true.” I said confused.

                “Maybe it’s because you’re moving so the timetable was screwed up.” Eddie stated.

                As we were walking into the building, we see everyone run out. Jack runs up to me and grabs

me into his arms just as we hear the tires squeal to truck and Tanner and the unknown woman race

away from us.

                “Are you ok? What happened?! I heard you scream and then felt the whole building shake. After

that Eddie mind linked me of what he saw.”

                “Well, I saw the events of my first vision come to life, but what I didn’t realize would happen is

that when I became so terrified that I would force a blast of air in all directions knocking back my would-

be kidnapper. Eddie was already outside running to me and thankfully pulled me to him and to the

building to get me away from her and Tanner. I really think that I would’ve been kidnapped if Eddie

hadn’t been there.” I said grateful for Eddie.

                “Hey, I was just protecting my future Luna. I love you like a sister and I’ll kill anyone that tries to

harm you.” He replies.

                Jack looks at him and immediately says, “You’re her bodyguard, wherever she goes, you go.

When she’s at home that you can do whatever you need to do for trainin’ since it’s safe there, but she

trusts you, I trust you, you’ve proven that you’re willin’ to protect her. Same goes for Jojo, I want Harry

to be with her at all times outside of the pack’s territory. As for Scar, I know she can protect herself, but

I want her to be safe too. Since she’s at work right now and can’t speak for herself, Josh call her, explain

to her what’s goin’ on. I have to look into who would be a good fit for bein’ her guard. So,

congratulations to Harry and Eddie, because this is a promotion, obviously with a raise.” He adds and

laughs while reaching out to shake their hands. I feel like crying as I start to come down from my

adrenalin high and fully realizing what happened, I start to shake slightly.

                “As happy as I am that Eddie and I got this, do we know why Genevieve is human and possessing

inhuman qualities? I mean it’s really cool that our Luna is this awesome even before officially joining the

pack, but I just want to know what’s really going on.” Harry steps forward and asks.

                “I don’t know. It’s not like I’m getting a manual for any of this stuff. It’s new for me too.” I tell

him.

                Jack cuts in and say, “I’m not sure either. Let’s just finish packing and get out of here as quickly

as possible so we can get to the packhouse where we know it’s safe.”

                Everyone agrees and we head upstairs, thankfully there wasn’t much left and we got out of

there within the next hour.

                It didn’t take us long to get the pack boarders and what I saw absolutely astonished me.

Normally Texas is very flatlands, but as we were driving, we started to get into a small section of large

hills, they weren’t quite big enough to be called mountains and not small enough for a regular hill. There

weren’t many trees, but I did see some bushes scattered throughout the land. We drove past a couple of

the hills and made a left turn into the largest hill out of the bunch. We started to slow down and as I

looked out the window I saw several huge wolves step out from behind some bushes. They must have

been crouching down because there was no way that a regular size bush could hide the size of this wolf.

He had to be at least 7 feet tall. I turned to Jack in the seat next to me in the back of the truck while

Eddie was driving the truck we were in.

                “I’ve never seen your wolf. I know Josh said that it’s black with lightning stripes on it, but I want

to see it in person.” I tell him.

                “Ok, that can be arranged. We can do it tomorrow night since I want to show you around the

packhouse and get your familiar with everyone.” He says. I’m a little confused, “Wait, who’s everyone?”

                He smirks at me and just turns back around to look out the window, I scoff at him and do the

same.

                We drive for a few more minutes before making a right turn at another hill and coming into view

is the most breathtaking house that I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t for the life of me understand why any of

the guys were calling it a packHOUSE, this mutha f*cka was a mansion.

                “WHAT THE F*CK?! When were you going to tell me that you live in the top 1% in the country??

I can’t believe this you A*sholes lied to me!!” I yell as my face is plastered to the window and I have to

keep wiping the steam off the window that’s caused from my breath to see.

                The car drives around the very wide and long circular driveway and stops at the front steps. I see

a few people come out, but I don’t pay them any attention just as I’m LOSING MY MIND.

                I look around and notice that the packhouse in front of me in about 5 stories high and

connected to four other buildings, two on each side of the pack house.  It’s an off white/tan coloring on

the outside with a dark roof top that looked to be sturdier than the normal roofing on buildings. There

were several well-placed rock walls on a few of the walls. There were lots of windows to add natural

lighting inside the houses. There were a few columns around the front of the buildings. I looked over to

Jojo as she got out of her car and we ran to each other and squealed while jumping and down.

                “Oh my stars!!! I can’t believe we get to live here, Gen!! Can you believe it? I feel like a fairy tale

princess.” She says excitedly while looking around. The grass was cut meticulously and very green, which

is surprising in Texas since we have so many droughts. Whoever the gardener was should be given a

raise because it looks absolutely beautiful and all the flowers are in season too! Since I’ve lived in

apartments I was never able to garden, but now I can! If the gardener will let me, I know how I’d be if a

random person wanted to mess with my flower beds.

                I look back at the front steps and see three sets of older couples, behind them was an array of

young men and women of different ethnicities. I realized that these must be the families of Jack,

Sebastian and Josh. To the left, a few young ladies standing a little behind and older woman who looked

like she could be very stern, but she had the most welcoming smile. Next to them there were a few well-

muscled young men too.

                “Dang, did we roll out the whole community?” I said half to myself. Everyone laughed and I

blushed at my outburst. “Sorry, that just came out.”

                “That’s alright, sweet girl. We don’t mind one bit.” The older gentleman that looked like an older

version of Jack. “I’m Hunter, Jack’s dad.”

                “I can see where he gets his looks and his drawl from.” I state while going up to him and shaking

his hand, then I turn to the woman by his side and I don’t know why, but I felt compelled to curtsy.

                “Good Evening, ma’am. Thank you for letting you in me in your home.” I politely tell her. I see

that she’s beaming and before I can say another thing she pulls me into a bone-crushing hug.

                “I can’t believe it’s you! My son, my Alpha, finally found his mate!! I can’t wait to show you how

to be a Luna, it’s going to be so much fun!” She screams in my ear.

                “MOM! Let her go she’s still human, and you’re hurtin’ her!” Jack runs up to us and pulls me

away.

                “Oh my goodness, I forgot! Please forgive me.” She says while pleading with her eyes. “I do hope

that Jack will turn you soon though. I think you’ll love being a wolf.”

                I smile and shift my eyes to Jack. He looks a little uncomfortable since this isn’t something that

we’ve discussed yet. “I’d love to be turned someday. To have the speed and strength that they do would

be incredible. I’m sure that there’s plenty that I don’t know, but what I do know really intrigues me and I

can’t wait to become one of you.” Jack lets out a huge sigh of relief and picks up, spins me around and

kisses me in front of everyone. I hear everyone laughing and I can’t help, but to smile. I hadn’t given it

much thought, all I knew is that I wanted to be Jack’s equal in all ways.

                I see an older Hispanic lady go up to Jojo and pull her into a hug too.

                “Buenas noches, Hija (Good evening, daughter). I know we have spoken on the facetime a few

times over this last week, but it is a blessing to see you in person. Thank you for taking care of my Hijo

(son) this past week. He is my whole world and I’m grateful that he found someone to care for him and

love him as I do.” Says while holding her hands.

                “Buenas noches, Mama. It’s good to see you too. I can’t wait to learn to cook with you and

spend time with you.” Jojo replies. It looks like they already have a great relationship which is good.

                I look to the rest of the people and introduce myself, “Good Evening, I apologize for the late

arrival, but thank you so much for still coming out to greet us. I want to get to know everyone, so if

you’ll just be patient with me then I promise I’ll get to each of you to properly introduce myself.”

                “She’s going to be an amazing Luna, son.” Hunter says, I turned back to him to smile and say

thank you, then I move on to Sebastian’s parents.

                “I’m assuming since you’re Sebastian’s parents that you’re the previous Betas?” I ask.

                “Yes, my name is Mateo and this is my wife Carmen.” Mateo introduces them, “And it’s a great

joy to meet you.” Carmen comes up to me and hands me flowers and a small package wrapped in a

towel. I hand the flowers to Jack and open the towel. I see about five or six arepas and I immediately

bite into one and hand one to Jojo. Even though we ate lunch we were both starving from moving, me

even more so with all the power that was forced out of me earlier.

                “Oh my heavens above, this is the best food that I have ever tasted.” I state passionately. I finish

the one and hand the towel and the rest of arepas to Jack. Then, I turn to Carmen and pull her into a

hug. “Thank you so much! I would, also, like to learn some cooking from you if possible? Maybe you,

Jojo and I can all have a session together?” I ask hopeful.

                “Of course! It would be my honor.” I bow my head and then head to last older couple, which are

Asian.

                “Welcome! My name is Aaron, this is my wife Jane. We are Josh’s parents. We couldn’t be

happier for you. We heard that Josh’s mate worked with you at the bar and that’s how they met. You’ve

brought all of our sons their mates and we are very grateful to you.”

                I look back at all the parents and saw them nodding their heads. I turn to Aaron and Jane, “Y’all

are gonna make me cry! I’m so happy to be accepted here!” I exclaim.

                I turn to the children behind them and am introduced to the younger siblings of Jack, Sebastian

and Josh. Jack has a brother and sister, Logan and Diane who looked to be around my age, but about a

year or two apart. Sebastian had a younger sister, Sadie who just graduated high school. Finally, Josh

had a pair of younger brothers, twins, Aiden and James who were in their sophomore year of high

school.

                I was introduced to the packs finest warriors, then to the omegas that would be my, Jojo and

Scars’ assistance around the main portion of the packhouse. Then I was introduced to the head omega,

Ms. Evelyn Harper.

                When all was said and done, Jojo and I felt welcomed and right at home. Our bags were taken

into the house and we started the tour inside.

There were two things I became certain of. One: the pack grounds were gorgeous and two: I felt

ready to take on this pack as it’s Luna no matter the challenges.
