Chapter One

3317 Words
I was an ordinary man who worked endlessly for a living. My salary is good for paying my expenses, and of course, for my hobby. I love reading Shonen books, with great fighting scenes, and with a dash of fantasy. I’ve been a fan of reading such books ever since I was in high school. Nobody knows about my hobby; this is a secret I’ve been keeping for my entire whole life. Recently, I’ve been reading this novel called, “The Rise of the New Immortal King.” It is about Aziel, the protagonist, who is the son from the Immortal King and a mortal princess from a small kingdom. Aziel was hidden from her mother from the Immortal King because he does not accept a demigod son. She raised him as the crowned prince but unfortunately, the kingdom was attacked and Aziel was taken as a slave. He managed to escape from the slave’s den and promised to himself to have a revenge from the ones who attacked their kingdom and to his father who did not accepted him. In Aziel’s journey, he became stronger while fighting his opponents and met beautiful maidens, which he did not know he created a harem for himself. He then defeated his own father and became the new immortal king.   “That was it?” I asked to myself while scrolling down the comment section.   I am completely disappointed with the ending, sure, harem sounds nice, but it ruined this epic action-fantasy novel! If only Aziel can pick one girl! If I were Aziel, I would pick Liu Xiuying! She’s the first girl who took care of him, she is his childhood sweetheart for Pete’s sake! Why would this protagonist create a harem? I disliked the ending. I wanted more action! Not this!   “I should leave a comment to the author. I wasted a lot of my salary for this novel!” I angrily yelled at my cellphone screen.   As I type angrily in the comment section, my head started to get hurt. This must be a migraine due to overwork. I deserve a raise for this! After reviewing my comment, I clicked post and everything turned pitched black.   What the?! I swear I paid the bills, but why can’t I seem to move my body? Is this part of fatigue? What’s happening to me? Did my body malfunction? No! No way! I still need to date! I need a girlfriend! I never dated anyone yet!   “Young master? Young master!”   What’s with this noise? Why is there a voice of a girl? I tried to open my eyes but my vision is still kind of blurry.   “Young master is awake! Call the physician!”   Who is she calling young master? And why does my body feel heavy and wait a minute, where am I? What is this place? Wait, this kind of setting is like from a game my brother played, what was it again? Tension Impact? But what kind of clothes is this?   “Brother! Brother Junjie! Your awake! Mother! Brother is finally awake!” A little girl yelled while holding my hand and cried at the same time.   “W-who are you?” What the? Why does my voice sound like a kid? Hold on. My hands! They’re tiny too! And my body? Why am I smaller?!   “B-brother? It’s me! Little Xiuying, your only little sister!” She cried once again.   “What’s with this ruckus— my baby! My baby’s finally awake!” A woman from her 30s hurriedly walked towards my direction and hugged me tightly. Let go! Let me go! I’m suffocating and confused at the same time!   “Mother! Brother does not remember me, he even asked who I am!” The little girl, I mean the girl named Xiuying said.   Wait, that name sounds familiar, where did I heard that name again?   “Junjie, do you know me? I am your mother! This is your little sister, Liu Xiuying!” The lady said.   Liu Xiuying? The first girl who entered Aziel’s harem?! What the?! I am inside the novel who I disliked?! If Liu Xiuying is my sister, then that means, I am Liu Junjie, the boy who dared bullied the protagonist until they were teens but was annihilated by Aziel in the battle at the academy?! No freaking way… I can’t believe this! I won’t accept this fate! But why am I in this state? What happened to Liu Junjie? I don’t remember—   “Ack!” My head started to ache. What is this unexplainable pain?!   “Brother? Are you alright?”   “Son! What’s wrong?”   What the? Is this, Liu Junjie’s memory?   “Who is that brat you brought, father? Is this a new slave you brought in?” Liu Junjie cockily asked.   “Watch your words, Junjie! He is no slave; he will be my disciple.” Junjie’s father said.   “But— But father! Why would you take a slave as your disciple rather than your own son? Do you really despise me that much?!” Liu Junjie asked. It was clear that Liu Junjie was angry and felt betrayed.   “Enough! Go back to your room and right down all the mistakes you have done today. That will be your punishment.” Junjie’s father left the family hall with Aziel. Liu Junjie felt hatred towards Aziel and nothing more.   When Liu Junjie entered his room, he grabbed a dusty old book and chant something. It was a spell that can boost your cultivation, but using this spell is dangerous, if the cultivator used the spell wrong, the cultivator will die.  But little Liu Junjie chanted the spell wrong and his empty body collapsed in the floor. A loud thud was heard from the hall and a maid saw Liu Junjie’s lifeless body laying down the floor.                   ⁃              end of flashback -   So, that’s how I entered this brat’s body?! His father was to blame too. If he did not neglect this brat, maybe he will not turn into a villain. If I were Liu Junjie, I would despise the father instead! Wait, I became Liu Junjie…   “Call the physician! Where is he?!” Madame Liu yelled.   “I’m here! Don’t worry, everything is going to be alright. Let me check his vital signs.” The physician checked everything and asked me various questions. I honestly answered him and told him I only few memories which is true. The physician went to madam Liu and discussed this brat’s body condition and she cried. She hugged me tightly and tried to console me. What did this physician tell madam Liu that made her this clingy?! “Don’t worry son, even if you lose some of spiritual energy that made you lose your memories, we will help you train and regain your memories back!” madam Liu said. “That’s right, brother! We will help you!” Xiuying said. “Ah, okay.” I replied, I can’t help but to feel overwhelm because of the situation. There’s a part of me who feels guilty that the reason why Liu Junjie lost a lot of his spiritual energy because I transmigrated into his body, and I am only an ordinary person. But that’s not the point, my goal here is to survive and avoid to be killed by the protagonist at all cost. But how? I don’t know what to do and Liu Junjie’s body is too weak right now. No one is going to help me cultivate back my spiritual energy since Liu Junjie seems to despise his own first-born son! “Stay here and take a rest, son. The physician ordered that you must rest first before cultivating again,” madam Liu said. “Okay, mother.” I replied. Madam Liu and Xiuying left my room and here I am left all alone lying down in my bed. Even though I am an extra from the novel that will not last long, I am willing to survive and live-in peace. I will try my best to stay away from the storyline. The best thing that I can do is to avoid Aziel at all cost! --- Weeks had passed and I think I am still trying to adjust with this world of novel. I successfully avoided Aziel, and that means, whenever he passes by towards my direction, I immediately run away from him. It is peaceful indeed, avoiding the protagonist. Being involved with him is too problematic. As I stroll around the West pavilion, I heard the sound of kids’ ruckus. I don’t want to interfere but I heard Aziel was in trouble.   “Hey slave! Why did Master Liu take you as his disciple?” “Did you bewitch Master Liu? I heard he is a son of a witch!” “If we punish him, maybe young master will be pleased by us! When he wakes up, we shall tell we had avenged him!” Those brats! They did something that might harm their future! I promised to myself that I must not get involve with Aziel but those damn brats really got into my nerves! No, I should not interfere but my inner righteous self said I should. Arggh! “Hey! What are you guys doing?” I unconsciously yelled. “Young master! You’re okay!” “Yes, and what is the meaning of this?” I coldly asked. “We punished him for you—” “Who said you can punish him without my permission?” I asked sternly. Yes, those damn brats are scared of me. As you should! How dare you fight the protagonist who is defenseless right now, one day he might fight you all! “I—” “Scram! You go back to the training center and train!” the three brats bowed at me in respect and hurriedly ran towards the training ground. Aziel was still sitting in the ground and was staring at me with puppy eyes. Wait, did I say puppy eyes? I shove away my thoughts and decided to leave, hoping this is my last encounter with the protagonist but this damn brat tug my sleeve and looked at me with this strange puppy eyes of his. Since when did the main character acted this cutely? “Um, young master, thank you for defending me—” “I am not defending you; I just hate ruckus.” I blurted out. Suddenly, his puppy eyes of admiration turned into a disappointing one which made me flustered. This brat! He knows how to make people guilty! Is this the power of a protagonist?! “I don’t hate you, so, let me go!” I yelled yanking away my sleeves away from him. His eyes were beaming again. What the? What is wrong with him? I just said that I don’t hate him. This brat is really testing me, my plan is to avoid you! Why can’t you understand by my gesture? Is reading action that hard? Why does not being hated by me is a big deal? Am I that villainous? “R-really? You mean that, young master?” he asked. “Yes, so let me go, I have some things to do,” I said. He immediately let my sleeves go and smiled at me brightly. If I were a girl, I would blush right now but I am definitely not! I am a straight man! A straight boy I mean since I am currently twelve years old right now. --- So, my plan avoiding the protagonist will surely fail because of that encounter. What should I do to avoid that unfortunate ending? I want to survive; this is my second life! But how? What to do? What should I do in order to survive? “Should I, annihilate him first? Nah, I’m too young and he is way more powerful than I am.” What to do? Arggh! My head hurts from thinking too much! “Should I just befriend him?!” I yelled out of frustration. Wait. That’s right! It’s not a bad idea! Maybe I can also be protected by his protagonist immunity! But will this even work? I don’t even know how to socialize so how could I befriend the main character? I should sleep first, thinking a lot stress me out. I will just think of a plan tomorrow morning. I don’t know why but is it me or the world of novel has a faster time than the original world where I          came from? I thought I just blinked and it is already morning. Or maybe I slept too late and thought the time here is fast? I miss technology, I mean, there is no clock here, how could they tell time? This sucks! I still don’t know how this world works and being Liu Junjie is really dangerous for my health because I feel anxious every day. Right now, I am in the training hall and I am surrounded by these three brats who approached Aziel. Are they supposedly to be my minions? Wow, how stereotypical! “Ehem! Today, we are going to practice the Thunder serpent move. This martial art technique must need a lot of spiritual energy, but one of the students here lost almost half of his spiritual energy,” Master Liu said as he coldly stared at me. What the? What kind of father is he? If I were the real Liu Junjie, I will seriously think that I am just an adoptive son and Aziel is the real son of Master Liu. His treatment toward his son is unfair! So, of course, I glared at him back. Sorry old man, I am not your real son Liu Junjie, so I will never beg for your acceptance. He was stunned. Of course, the real Liu Junjie would never glare at his own father, he will just sulk while his minions comfort him, but I’m different. I am not his real son anyway. “What’s wrong, Master Liu? Why did you stop? Go on! Continue your speech,” I said, trying to provoke him. He was surprised again. Not calling him father, even the students here are surprised as well. In the book of “The Rise of the New Immortal King,” Liu Junjie will always call him father but Master Liu never treated Liu Junjie his own son, even Liu Xiuying was ignored. He did not even love his very own wife. It was a mystery; the author did not mention their background because they were just some minor characters. But now I am inside the novel, I am curious why did Master Liu treated his family coldly and will never recognize them as his? Anyways, he started to talk and ignored me once again, he then let Aziel volunteer to demonstrate the new technique he talked about. “Young master, why didn’t you call him father? Did you fight with Master Liu?” brat number one asked. “I do not see him as a father figure. I think Aziel is his real son instead,” I humorously said. “Hey! Do not joke about that! Of course, you are the real young master! Maybe, Master Liu is really strict towards you in order to make you stronger!” Brat number two said, trying to comfort me. Don’t worry brat, I am not sad at all. “Well, that sounds comforting, but I don’t remember your names since I lost my memories. Can you introduce yourselves?” I asked. “I am Zhao Feng!” “My name’s Huang Peizhi.” “Mine is Shen Yongzheng!” Ugh! I am really bad at memorizing names, but I will try my best to remember them since they are my loyal minions. Master Liu started to let all the students stand and let them practice on their own. I tried my best but my spiritual energy is weak. I know that old man is laughing right now. I should give him the worst father award for not caring on his own son. I don’t know but channeling my own spiritual energy is exhausting that I— Shoot! I just blacked out. What kind of body is this? This is such a weak body! But wait, why did I feel someone is carrying me? Is this one of my minions? If it is, they sure are very loyal to me. I should reward them when I wake up. I tried opening my eyes and saw a glimpse of Aziel, so it wasn’t those damn brats after all. I thought they were loyal to me. Why is the main character carrying me instead? And where is he trying to bring me? I am heavy, is he struggling to carry me? This brat, why is he helping me? “Put me down,” I groggily said. “No, I must bring you to the physician’s office, young master! You are exhausted, you should not force yourself to practice with us.” He spoke. “No, I must… must—” Darn this body! If I got to be transmigrated, why would I be transferred into this weak body? I should be enjoying my life and be surrounded by girls! Of course, being rich too! I’ve been working my ass off and this is what I get? I did not even have a chance to date in my previous life! Life is indeed unfair. “The young master should take a rest, do not let him practice martial arts for now, he must regain back his spiritual energy.” “Understood, Liu Junjie! You’re finally awake, my son!” I opened my eyes and tried to sit up but madam Liu stopped me and forced me to lay down. “Do not move, the physician ordered me to not let you do anything. You should rest so that you can regain back your spiritual energy,” madam Liu scolded me. “No buts! And Aziel, thank you for bringing my son in the clinic, I owe you so much,” madam Liu softly said. “It’s nothing, Madame Liu, saving young master is my duty.” Aziel said and bowed down to madam Liu. “Raise your head, child. You do not need to do that. You saved my son just in time, what reward would you like?” madam Liu asked. “I do not need any rewards, madam Liu.” “No! I will not accept that. Please, just ask for anything and I will give them to you.” Madam Liu insisted. I’m curious, what would Aziel, the main character would ask for? For now, he does not have everything. So, I could guess, like money? No, Aziel was not that cheap. Title? Nah, he is not that hungry for power. He is the main lead! He is righteous of course! What would the twelve-year-old Aziel ask for? “Um, is it okay that I will be the personal bodyguard for the young mater?” Aziel shyly asked. What the? Is he bluffing?!
