“Loving a man who never once looked at her with affection was her mistake.
And she was paying the price for it.”

Evelyn’s POV
The cold night air blew brushing against my skin as I stepped out of the Blood Moon Pack’s gates for the last time.
My legs felt heavier with each step. My heart pounded loudly in my ears. But it was nothing compared to the emptiness inside me.
He didn’t just reject me.
He didn’t just strip me of my title.
He humiliated me—in front of the entire pack.
The whispers of the pack members still echoed in my ears as I left. The weight of their stares still burned my skin.
The silver light of the full moon shone down on me, lighting my path as I stepped past the pack’s borders. My feet were bare, my body weak, but I kept moving.
I didn’t know where I was going.
I just knew I had to get away.
The pain of rejection was still fresh in my chest, making every breath a struggle.
A sharp whimper echoed inside my mind.
Emma.
She was hurting badly. I felt her curling into herself. The pain was unbearable for both of us.
I clenched my fists.
Hold on, Emma…
I told her, but she was weak.
Not just from the rejection—no.
Six months ago…
I shook my head, forcing the thought away. Not now.
Emma had barely recovered from what happened back then, and now this? It was too much.
It felt like something was ripping me apart from the inside, a deep, raw wound that refused to close.
I gritted my teeth and forced myself forward, step by step, until I felt a presence.
A shiver ran down my spine.
My instinct told me ‘I wasn’t alone.’
I slowed my pace and tried to listen. At first, all I heard was the rustling of leaves in the cold breeze. But then, the sound of the almost silent footsteps behind me fell on my ears.
‘Someone was following me.’
My breath hitched. Every nerve in my body tensed. I turned my head slightly, trying to see through the darkness without making it obvious I knew.
I swallowed, my heart hammering against my ribs. Who is it?
Suddenly, the sound stopped, as if there was no one in the first place.
Taking a deep breath, I turned around. I scanned the area using my wolf’s vision. Even though Emma was weak at this moment, her senses were sharp as ever. For an omega her senses had always been sharper than others.
My gaze scanned my surroundings but I couldn’t see anyone. I concentrated on my hearing to check if I am really being followed. But all I heard was the rustling of leaves due to air. There was no one.
‘Was I imagining things? Seems like it.’
I turned back around to resume walking. But I could barely take a single step when a sharp sting pierced my neck.
A gasp tore from my lips as a burning sensation spread through my veins. My entire body froze, my vision blurring instantly.
No.
I tried to lift my arms, I tried to move, but my body refused to obey. The strength in my limbs vanishing.
My knees buckled and I lost my balance, the world tilting as I collapsed onto the cold, hard ground with a loud thud.
Through my fading sight, I barely made out the silhouettes of two large figures standing in front of me. Two strong, bulky man.
My blurred vision caught a pair of boots stepping closer, stopping few inches from my face.
And then, a deep voice spoke.
“Let’s take you to your right place.”
This was the last thing I heard before darkness consumed me.
***
A sharp pain throbbed in my head as I gained my consciousness back.
My body ached, my limbs felt heavy, and the coldness beneath me sent a shiver up my spine.
I forced my eyes open, but all I could see was darkness.
I sat up with a jerk, the movement causing the pounding in my head to worsen, but I ignored it.
Panic surged through me, my breath coming in short gasps. Where am I?
Then it hit me. Like a wave crashing down, the memories rushed back to my mind. The memory of being followed. The sharp sting in my neck. My body collapsing. The silhouette of two bulky man.
My heart pounded in my chest.
I blinked rapidly, rubbing my eyes, hoping they would adjust to the dim lighting.
Faint moonlight seeped through a small window, casting eerie shadows across the walls.
I swallowed hard, trying to slow my breathing.
I reached for my wolf, my only source of strength. Emma...?
But there was no response from her.
I stiffened, my pulse thundering in my ears.
Suddenly, a realisation hit me and panic clawed at my chest.
Emma. I… couldn’t feel her.
I felt a lump forming in my throat. I swallowed hard, my hands clenching into fists.
“Emma…please…” my voice was barely above a whisper.
Once again I was met with silence.
I tried again, and again, then again, desperately calling her name.
But the result was same.
My heart stopped.
Did they drug me with wolfsbane? The thought alone made my stomach churn. Without my wolf, I was vulnerable—weak.
Cold fear gripped me, stronger than anything I had felt before. But I forced myself to stay calm and composed.
I couldn’t afford to panic. I needed to move. I needed to get out of here.
I pushed myself up, my legs trembling beneath me. Squinting, I searched the room again and finally spotted something—a door.
I rushed toward it. My hands shaking as I reached for the handle and turned it, silently praying in my head, ‘Please don’t be locked.’
It turned.
Relief crashed over me. I pushed the door open, and light flooded in, momentarily blinding me.
I blinked rapidly, my vision finally adjusting to the light, revealing a hallway.
I stepped out, my bare feet pressing against the cool floor.
A railing stood a few feet ahead, overlooking a large open space below. I made my way toward it, gripping the wooden bars tightly, I looked down.
My heart dropped at the scene in front of me.
The room below was filled with women—dressed in revealing, flashy clothes, their faces painted with heavy makeup. Some were laughing, others whispering, and a few sat silently, their gazes vacant.
A feeling of uneasiness settled in my chest
Something was wrong. Very, very wrong.
‘Where am I?’
I didn’t wait to find out. I turned and sprinted toward the stairs, my heart hammering against my ribs. I felt eyes on me, but I ignored them. All I could focus on was getting out.
I reached the bottom, frantically searching for the exit. Then my eyes fell on the door on the other side of the living room.
A flicker of hope sparked inside me as I rushed toward the door.
But I could barely take few steps before a rough hand grabbed my wrist and yanked me back.
A startled gasp escaped my lips as I stumbled, crashing onto the cold floor.
Pain shot up my spine, but I barely noticed it. My wide, tear-filled eyes snapped up to the man standing before me, his shadow stretching over me like a nightmare.
“Where do you think you’re going, girl?”
I knew that voice.
The same one I heard before I lost consciousness.
My throat tightened, but I forced out the words. “Who are you? Why have you brought me here?” My voice shook despite my effort to sound strong.
The man chuckled darkly, shaking his head. “Ah, wrong question.” He spread his arms, gesturing to the room around us. “The first thing you should be asking is—what is this place?”
Dread settled deep in my bones as I slowly turned my head, my eyes darting to the women surrounding us, watching the scene unfold.
The extremely revealing clothes they were wearing, the extravagant make up covering their faces, the way they carried themselves. The way they eyed me with pity.
All of it was enough to tell anyone what this place was…
I felt like the air had been sucked from my lungs.
No…
It can’t be happening to me.
The man smirked, as if enjoying watching the horror spread across my face.
“You’re smart,” he murmured, his voice dripping with amusement. “What you’re thinking is absolutely right.”
A sharp, suffocating fear gripped me as he leaned down slightly, and uttered his next words.
“This is a brothel.”
My blood ran cold. My stomach twisted violently.
My chest rose and fell in rapid gasps as reality crashed over me.
Before I could react, the door behind him swung open.
My entire body froze.
A face I knew all too well stepped into view, moving toward me with slow, deliberate steps.
My breath hitched. My heart stopped.
No, it can’t be.
No, no, no…
Panic surged through me like a storm. My instincts screamed—run.
In a swift motion I got up on my feet. I spun on my heels and bolted in the opposite direction as fast as I could.
But I wasn’t fast enough.
A cruel grip tangled in my hair, yanking me back with brutal force. A cry of pain tore from my throat as my back crashed into a solid chest.
Warm breath fanned against the skin on the back of my neck, sending a shiver down my spine as a low, mocking voice whispered into my ear,
“Not so fast, darling.”
