A New Life Begins

816 Words
Bella didn’t look back. Not once. Even when the massive gates of the Knight mansion closed behind her… Even when the last piece of her past life disappeared… She kept walking. Step by step. As if stopping would break her completely. ⸻ That Night The small apartment was nothing like the life she used to live. No chandeliers. No servants. No luxury. Just a single bed, a small window, and silence. Bella sat on the edge of the bed, still in yesterday’s clothes. Everything felt unreal. Just two days ago, she was about to become Mrs. Knight. Now… She was alone. Pregnant. And abandoned. Her hand slowly moved to her stomach. A soft breath escaped her lips. “I guess… it’s just us now,” she whispered. For a moment, the pain returned. Sharp. Crushing. But then— She straightened her back. “No,” she said quietly. “I won’t stay like this.” Her eyes hardened with determination. “I won’t let them look down on me ever again.” ⸻ Reality Hits The next few days were not easy. Bella had never worried about money before. But now… Every little thing mattered. Rent. Food. Medical bills. She sat at a small table, staring at a notebook filled with numbers. Her savings were limited. Very limited. “I need a job…” she murmured. But who would hire her now? Her name had already been dragged through the mud. The scandal from the wedding was spreading. People talked. People judged. And people avoided her. Bella clenched her fists. “So what?” she said under her breath. “Let them talk.” She wouldn’t give up. Not anymore. ⸻ A Chance Encounter One afternoon, as Bella walked down the street after another failed job interview, her head felt heavy. The sun was hot. Her body weak. She hadn’t eaten properly all day. Suddenly— Her vision blurred. Before she could react, her legs gave out. ⸻ “Hey! Watch out!” A strong arm caught her before she hit the ground. Bella blinked weakly. The world slowly came back into focus. A man stood in front of her, holding her steady. “Are you okay?” he asked, his voice calm but concerned. Bella tried to pull away. “I’m fine…” But her body betrayed her. She nearly collapsed again. The man frowned. “You don’t look fine.” “I said I’m—” Her stomach growled loudly. Bella froze in embarrassment. The man raised an eyebrow slightly. “When was the last time you ate?” he asked. She didn’t answer. She didn’t need to. ⸻ Unexpected Kindness A few minutes later, Bella found herself sitting in a small restaurant. A plate of hot food was placed in front of her. She hesitated. “I can’t accept this…” “You can,” the man said simply, sitting across from her. “And you will.” Bella looked at him carefully. He didn’t look ordinary. His clothes were simple, but his presence… It carried authority. “Why are you helping me?” she asked quietly. The man shrugged slightly. “You looked like you were about to collapse. That’s reason enough.” Bella lowered her gaze. She wasn’t used to kindness anymore. Not after everything. “Thank you,” she said softly. “Eat first,” he replied. And this time… She didn’t refuse. ⸻ A Small Light As Bella ate, she felt something she hadn’t felt in days. Warmth. Not from the food. But from the simple act of someone caring. The man watched her silently for a moment. “Are you alone?” he asked. Bella paused. Then nodded. “Yes.” He didn’t ask more. Didn’t push. And somehow… That made it easier. ⸻ A Turning Point After the meal, Bella stood outside the restaurant. “Thank you,” she said again. The man nodded. Then he handed her a card. Bella looked down at it. Her eyes widened slightly. “You…” she started. “Call me if you need a job,” he said calmly. Bella looked up quickly. “Why would you help me like that?” The man met her gaze. “Because,” he said, “you don’t look like someone who should be giving up.” Her breath caught slightly. Before she could say anything else— He turned and walked away. Just like that. Leaving her standing there. Holding the card. And for the first time since everything fell apart— Bella felt something new. Hope. ⸻ A Silent Promise Bella held the card tightly, her hand resting on her stomach again. “I won’t stay down,” she whispered. Her eyes filled with determination. “I’ll rise again.” And when she does… The people who once looked down on her— Will have no choice but to look up.
