The news on the television was saying that Adam Nikolai's daughter was getting engaged. A picture of Theo and Rosa flashed on the screen repeatedly, making my blood boil with anger. I clenched my fists as my heart blistered with jealousy and the pain of betrayal. The newsreader was saying how perfect they looked together and they were really made for each other. This made me want to kill that person before he could speak another word.
I abruptly picked up my gun from the table and fired at the TV, turning it blank with a sharp crack as some electricity sparks erupted and glinted through its broken screen.
"Max, calm down and control yourself," dad said, trying to snatch the gun from me as if he read my mind.
