Your usual plenum is a vast, dusty space with a so-called floor made of the wrong side of a suspended ceiling, all fiberglass panels and the flimsy aluminum struts barely sturdy enough to hold those panels. It’s the lightest possible way to hide the plenum’s girders and wiring and dust. They call it the plenum’s floor, but there’s no way you can stand on it.
Then there’s the interior walls. Office walls don’t go all the way up to the true ceiling. They end two, maybe three inches above the fiberglass panels. They’ll bear your weight, so long as you don’t jump or dance or trip. You don’t get room to do either, because in your regular office there’s maybe four feet between the floor and the true ceiling.
