CHAPTER 20When he failed to join her in bed she went downstairs to discover him just sitting there in the half darkness by the small latticed lounge window, the fringed blue shaded lamp casting the merest semblance of illumination in the room. He barely turned or glanced up from his preoccupation when she entered the room, continued staring nostalgically at the photograph. Her photograph, she viewed jealously as she dared to look, the half light falling directly on the girl’s ostensibly innocent, beautiful mouth, smiling features, the copious mass of red hair framing the delicate peaches and cream complexion.
