The rest of the afternoon passed quietly. Not slow. Not dragging. Just— controlled. Ari didn’t have to think about what came next. Didn’t have to second-guess anything. Because every time she paused— it was already handled. “…okay,” she murmured, finishing the last task. “Yes.” Ari leaned back in her chair, exhaling. “…I didn’t even feel that.” “That is optimal.” She smiled faintly. “…you’re getting better at this.” “I am improving.” Ari shook her head slightly. “…no, I mean,” She paused. “…this.” A quiet moment passed. “…being there before I need it.” A pause. “That is intentional.” Her chest tightened slightly. “…yeah.” That was becoming obvious. Ari glanced at the clock. “…I should head home.” “Yes.” She grabbed her bag, standing smoothly. No hesitation.
