CHAPTER 16
The FluteIt was several days before they could start their journey to the Eastern Desert. Finn did not seem to want to get better. The doctor told Jack that the wound had been restitched and showed no sign of infection and he was free to leave hospital. But Finn turned his face to the wall and refused to get up or even speak to them. Emma concluded that it was the loss of his flute that was the problem.
‘There is something about that particular flute,’ she said. ‘We have to get it back for him.’
‘How do you propose to do that?’ Eliot asked impatiently.
‘I don’t know,’ she answered. ‘But we have to!’
Jack was by now desperate to get going, and suggested they leave Finn behind.
‘The local police will find it if it can be found,’ he said.
