CHAPTER 14 Finn’s EncounterEmma, on waking, found herself in bed with Eliot, still in the dusty bloodstained T-shirt of the day before. She crept out and had a shower before he woke, and made her way back to Jack’s room for clean clothes. There she found Jack already awake, taking his anti-biotic capsules with tonic water. He was not as pale as he had been the night before, and seemed, on the whole, to be on the mend. As the doctor had said: God had been good to him, and the cut was not deep. He knew, if Emma had not intervened, he might be dead, or at least lying much more seriously injured in Assyut hospital.
