Chapter five: FIRST DAY

1058 Words
I picked up a cute floral blouse and black pants with a pair of my favorite black heels. I looked at my reflection and thought I might look too cooperate for a caregiver but I just wanted to feel like I had a real job for once. Besides 500bands in a month is more than enough to wear cooperate outfits to work. I grabbed a bottle of water and locked the door. Walked over to Ken's. Knocked three times so he knew it was me and made my way inside. I saw him on the couch watching TV when I approached him. "Hey ken" I said silently since he got startled easily. He slowly turned to look at me and smiled widely when he saw my face. "Emilia Darling! You look stunning. Isn't this a bit too extravagant for the bakery though?" He asked genuinely confused. I just giggled as I dropped the keys on the coffee table. "It's a secret but I just got a new job with a billionaire" I said with a wide smile. He smiled back "of course you did" he said chuckling. I just rolled my eyes knowing he didn't believe me but in his defense, I barely believe it either. I yelled bye as I made my way outside to catch the bus, I saw that I had five min left before the next bus so I picked up my pace and hoped I didn't miss it. I got there just in time and slipped into the bus just before it moved. I dropped from the bus and looked at the massive building. I was in awe but my reaction came out as a scoff. It was beautiful but it was also ridiculous. Like what was it so massive for anyway, it made no sense. I took a deep breath as I used my hands to smoothen my pants. Said a silent prayer as I walked into the building. My first thought was to find a toilet. I walked in and my jaw dropped open. Literally. The rich snobby people in there must have thought I looked stupid but I couldn't help it, the fact that the building looked bigger inside aside, the decor was top notch. Everything was glistening and blinding. The knobs were so shiny, I could swear they were all pure gold. Waiters in quality uniforms casual walking around with tiny fancy snacks and champagne on silver trays like it was a party. This just being the lobby of the apartment building made no sense to me. I approached the reception area and asked to be directed to the toilet. The lady assessed my outfit with the most judging gaze. She must've noticed that non of my clothings were branded because she asked for who I was here to see. I stopped to smirk, this was my time to shine. I cleared my throat and said "Ryan Lawson please". I swear the God I heard her scoff, I just rolled my eyes at her reaction. She was about to reply me when another receptionist who seemed to be in a higher rank came and whispered something in her ear. Her eyes went wide before she cleared her throat and took two steps back. I was confused till the other lady stepped forward. "You must be Miss Emilia, we've been expecting you. Mrs Lawson asked that we be on the lookout for you, I greatly apologize on the ignorance of our staff" she said so collected like she was a robot. Before I knew it they were both bowing in apology, I was beyond stunned and didn't know how to react. "Uhh, it's fine?" I said still confused. "Thank you ma'am. Is there anything you might need before we direct you to the penthouse?" She asked in that same professional tone. I was about to shake my head before I remembered how pressed I was. "I really need to use the toilet please" I said politely. She gave me a professional smile, it almost looked rehearsed. She walked out from behind the counter and stood in front of me maintaining a particular distance every time. "Follow me please" she said with her hands pointing in a direction. "Oh...okay" I said wondering why she didn't just give me directions. This must be one of the perks of working with a billionaire. I smiled to myself as I squared my shoulders following her. I muttered a thank you when we got there. I almost pissed my pants when I saw the toilet. It was bigger than my whole flipping room. I didn't have the time to look at it any further before I actually pissed my pants. I quickly used the toilet and came out to wash my hands. I adjusted my hair with the mirror and reapplied my lipgloss. I looked at my reflection for a second and hoped she had a good first day at work. It was starting to look up anyway. I sighed and walked out. "What the f**k, you startled me!" I yelled as I saw the same receptionist standing right in front of the door, waiting for me to get out. "I am sorry ma'am, I didn't mean to" she said, bowing again. I waved it off as she started directing me to the penthouse. We got into the elevator and stopped at the very top. We got out and she walked me to the entrance before bowing and walking away. "Oh, am I supposed to-...." I started but she had already left when I turned. I sighed "knock?" I completed completely conflicted. I saw a golden button and assumed it was a bell so I pressed it hoping for the best. My heart was beating out of my chest. I was literally about to meet Ryan Lawson, telge Ryan Lawson!! What is my life??! A few minutes later, the door flung open and the most handsome man in a well tailored suit with his hair slicked back stood in front of me with a frown on his face. It was Ryan. The magazines did no justice to his looks. He was so tall too. I was too stunned to speak. So he did for me and the words that came out of his mouth we're not the most pleasant words. "Who the f**k are you?"
