Starting The Rescue

I woke up the next morning still thinking about last night. I ran my thumb over my lips as I was still craving his. I wonder if he felt the same about me? When I first saw Justin and the times we hung out, I wanted him to kiss me, but nothing like this. I am and was craving for Leos kiss. I never wanted Justin as badly as I wanted Leo. Maybe Justin was right. We were only meant for friends.
I lay in bed just thinking about Leo and his smile, how he looked at me. I just cant get him out of my mind yet. I get up from bed and stretch and call for Ms. Bonnie over the intercom. Within a few minutes, she comes in and helps me with the zipper of my dress. I take a shower and get dressed for the day.
Sitting downstairs in the dining room, I keep drifting into my thoughts as I wait for my grilled cheese. Is it too soon for me to feel this way about Leo? Does he feel the same? Is he just leading me on? What was he thinking about yesterday? Does he really want me? Does he really want me for real or just to boost his ego? Has he really changed or is he acting? He could have any woman. Why does he truly want me? As I was hammering my brain with question after question, I didn't realize my grilled cheese was in front of me. My father walked into the dining room. He gently kissed the top of my head as he walked by to sit in his chair.
" Good morning dear." He says
" Good morning Father."
" Looks like you are contemplating something this morning."
" Just thinking, Father."
" Would you like to talk about it?"
" No, it's OK. I'm OK." I said, giving him a reassuring smile.
" Well, I am here if you decide to talk."
" Thank you father."
We sat in silence as I ate my grilled cheese and father drank his coffee, scrolling the internet for news.
" Maria, me and Rocco Romano have to go do business today. We will be away for about 2 weeks."
" OK father." I say
"Have you got the business plan together for your rescue?"
" I do have some on the money. On what it will take to get started, but I have not spoken to the Johnsons yet."
" Well, bring the plan for the rescue down and I will take a look at it and bring me the plan on how much you determined for the income business."
" Yes father. When would you like them?"
" I will be leaving at noon, so before I leave."
" Yes father, I will get them right away." I say taking a sip of my orange juice.
I go to my room and get my papers and my laptop and take them to my father's office. As I reach the open door, I see he is on a call so I wait for him in the hallway.
" Yes maria."
" Here is the paper work for the rescue. I figured I would start with the 5 we have now and add 15 of them. This is the monthly cost for the food and supplies,. These are the materials I will need, such as halters, leashes, brushes and so on. This will be the farrier charge, estimated vet costs. I based this off of hopes vet bills when we rescued her. Also, the amount I paid for her, I used for the cost of them at auction along with gas charges and workers to help set up for the day. This is new worker costs as I will need to hire a few more people."
" This is excellent Maria." He says with pride as he looks at my work. " What about the income business?"
" Here is the cost of new vans. These are new supplies. A larger location. This is all the equipment needed. I found a property that we currently own. It is vacant. It has a large area for a restaurant and an area for just catering services. I was going to ask what your plans were for this property. It was already set up for a restaurant on the one side and it had a deli on the other. So we could use the same blue prints with just minor changes, so the permits will be easier and it is already zoned for what we need."
" My dear, this is truly amazing. I wish everyone came to me with work like this. This is impressive. So with the rescue and scanning the numbers, how about I give you 200 thousand?"
" Father, that is more than I need. As I also have money saved from my allowance"
" Well, I want you to have a good start as I see you have put a lot of thought into this and you are determined to make it work. So think of the 200 thousand as a birthday gift."
" Thank you father."
" And with the restaurant for you to get started, I will give you the building you can have it. Along with 200 thousand for you to start. This money is money I will give you one time to invest with as a gift." tears started to fall from my face as I walked over and hugged my Father tightly.
" Thank you father. I will not let you down."
" I have faith in you, Maria, I know you are going to turn this money into a lot more."
" Thank you again father."
" I will have the money gathered for you today before i leave. I have to make a few calls now."
" OK." I said as I gathered all my papers and my laptop.
" Also, Maria Leo called this morning. He explained the double date with Jennifer and his friend and wanted to get my permission for his friend. I told him yes, that was fine. He asked for your number as he did not have it yet. Instead, I took his number down to pass to you" he handed me a piece of paper.
" Thank you father." I said with a smile, taking the piece of paper and walking out of his office to my room.
"Maria, Have fun on the double date."
