Talking to the Help

976 Words
"Where are you going?" I heard behind me as his hand grasped my arm a little tighter " That is no way to speak to your future family. A mouth like that I will not tolerate." Leo says with pure disrespect. I turned around and pulled my arm out of his grasp. " For one, do not touch me. For two, do not talk to me like that. You need to leave me alone. I want nothing to do with you." " Thats what you think. Wait till your mom speaks to your dad."  I just looked at him. I wanted to hit him. I dont know what it is, but my body is boiling. I honestly whole body hate this guy. " We'll see about that." I said to him with confidence. I turned and started to head further into the house to get far away from this asshole. Who does my mother think she is? Over my dead body will I have anything to do with Leo. I find myself walking back towards the drinks and still no sign of the mystery man anywhere. I dont know if I am getting more aggravated by Leo or by not finding this guy. I just know my patience is thin. " Man, that guy was an ass." The blonde Caterer says as I approach the table " Huh?" I said as I am broke out of my own thoughts " The guy when you were here last time. I am so glad you let him know about himself. You know he was trying to get me to leave with him tonight? Talking about a creep." She says " Oh, him.. Yeah, he is a piece of work. Hope you told him no. You deserve better than him." " Oh, I told him to get lost. Then he started talking to those girls over there." She pointed across the room to 3 other mafia bosses' daughters. All 3 are world class you know whats. All pampered and just rude and think they are above everyone. " Well, honestly one of them deserves him." I said as me and the caterer started to giggle. " I'm Jennifer, by the way." she smiled. "Nice to meet you. I am Maria." " You want another Pepsi?"  " Yes. Please" " Hopefully you can finish this one." She says jokingly, " I hope so." " Well hello again." His voice went through every part of my body as butterflies entered my stomach, causing nervousness. The voice of the mystery man I have been trying so desperately to find. I looked over and saw him walking behind the catering table. " Hey." I said, kicking myself as, I don't know what else to say i am frozen by his smile as he walked towards me on the other side of the table. " So this is your party?" " Oh, yes. Today is my birthday." " So you're the birthday girl. Happy birthday." " Thank you. But it's more like a get-together for all the parents and more business talks." " I can see that. So do you know anyone here?" " A few because of my father. I heard of a few people from others talking, but no not really. I kinda know Jennifer." I said.  " My name is Justin, by the way. In case you want to know me too." He says, smiling his gorgeous smile and holding his hand out. I took his hand in mine and shook it. " Nice to meet you. My name is Maria." Jennifer hands me my glass and smiles. " So do you live here?" She asks " Yeah."  " This place is 50 of my houses. I couldnt imagine living here. It must be so awesome." " Its alright. I mean the house is beautiful. Its just big and empty." " You dont have any brothers or sisters?" She asks " No, it's just me, my father and sometimes my mom when we can find her."   Then I heard the heels reminding me of a wicked witch coming closer. " Maria!" My mother says. " Oh god speak of the devil." I said, taking one more drink of my pepsi and rolling my eyes. "MARIA!!! Come here.." " The devil's mistress is calling. I gotta go. Maybe we can chat later." " OK" Says Jennifer " I would like that," Justin says. " MARIA... I KNOW YOU HEAR ME... MARIA ELIZABETH...!!" I started to walk towards the wicked witch of the west. " What are you doing? Your talking to the help??" my mother says aggravated with hate in her voice. " They are not the help and I can speak to anyone I want to." I said as I stopped and stare at her. " You are just so rude to people. At least the help talked to me with respect. Unlike Leo!!" I sturnly say to her. "Wait until I tell your father how you are acting." " Like how you are acting?" I walked around her and go the complete opposite direction she was trying to take me, which was back outside. People started to introduce themselves to me and having small talk. A lot of parents introduced me to their sons. Some were very sweet and good looking. Some looked as if they sit in front of computers and ate all day. But my mind kept wandering back to Justin. I know we are not to talk to anyone outside of the mob, especially normal people. But there was just something about him that I wanted to know more about. I could see him smile a million times and I bet it would still have the same effect on me. Hearing his voice, I could fall asleep to his voice as it is pure comfort to me.
