"Maria the Romanos are here." I heard my father say over the intercom.
"I will be right down Father." I say as I pulled my hair into a pony tail. On my way down the stairs, I started thinking, Oh god, Leo is going to be there. I start to get nervous about seeing Leo again. I knock lightly on the office door. Alexander opens the door and walks out as I went in and shut the door behind me.
" Hello again Ms. Maria." Leo says smiling at me
" Hello Mr. Leonardo." I say smiling back
" Good morning Ms. Valentine." Rocco Romano says
" Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Romano." I say
" Thank you for coming on short notice." My father says " Maria is the one that has called this meeting. Like you, I do not know what this is about. Maria if you would like to begin."
" Yes father." I said "It has come to my attention that the Romano family has been lied to and, I would like to get answers for both families. I believe we will be working together in the future. I understand my mother Ann borrowed money from the Romaons 2 years ago claiming my father sent her because he was facing financial problems."
" That is correct." Mr. Romano says
"I also know she made it seem she was a messenger for my father for the last two years. That she is actually the one that told you my father wanted to make a deal with you as his finances were a problem."
" Yes, she came to us 2 or 3 days ago and said she was sent by Mr. Valentine to make a deal to extend the family." Mr. Romano said as you can tell, he is getting aggravated.
" Mr. Romano, we have not seen my mother for almost 2 years."
" You lied to us?" Mr. Romano says to my mother
" And I can say I never borrowed any money from you. My finances are actually greater than before and we expanded to other families. I never sent her as a messenger and I never sent her to make a deal." My father says looking at the Romanos
" I... I... I was just trying to help.. I am not a bad person.. I just thought..." My mother starts begging
" I DONT want to hear another word from you!" my father says angrily at my mother.
" Father, I believe that is my business for the meeting. I will go so you and the Romanos can discuss matters." I say
" Hang on Maria please. Mr. Valentine, may I say something?" Leo asks taking a step away from the wall towards his parents
" Yes please Leo." My father says
" I know the deal that we all said yesterday was a lie now. But I wanted to ask before any deals or offers take place. I believe because of the way I represented myself to Maria when we first met, I would like to redeem myself, sir. We would still be incredibly grateful for you to extend to our family. But I believe as far as deals and offers, it is not in the works. What if I take Maria out on a few dates, sir or other words, court her? I will be respectful and will not harm her in anyway. If she falls in love with me we will extend our families. If not, we understand, but would still like to do business with you. I believe Maria deserves this. Just a few dates and in the time of those dates, please do not agree with any offers, sir."
" Maria, What do you think?" My father asks
"Father, I believe that is very respectful not only for himself but to his family as this will show a respect that others have not put the time or even thought about this type of offer. I believe this shows a new type of respect between two families."
" That is right Maria. You are very true, my dear. OK Leo, you have 2 weeks to court my daughter. We will meet in this office in 2 weeks for the decision. Does that sound reasonable to you, Leo?"
" Yes Mr. Valentine. Thank you." Leo says with a slight nod. He then turns to me and gives me a smile.
" Ok then that settles that. As far as other business, Maria and Leo, could you please leave us?" My father says
" Yes father."
"Yes Mr. Valentine."
