Chapter Twenty When it became clear to me that I wasn’t going to be going into the little church for the time being, I simply made a decision to seat on a small platform by the corner and practically do nothing. I didn’t know why I had the urge to stay longer, I should just leave and come back later when I was much more decent enough to go in but I just couldn’t bring myself to do that. I knew this and I thought it but I just didn’t want to go just yet. For minutes that ran into longer minutes, I simply stood and listened to the voices that came from behind the doors. They were singing pretty expressively about the mercies of God and his kindness. It wasn’t a tune I was familiar with, but I was enjoying the moment nonetheless. After a while, there was silence.
