CADE The blood roared in my veins, demanding my attention in a way I had never felt. I hadn’t been doing anything, just puttering around at home, doing chores and doing some light cleaning when it hit me like a freight train. A rush of blood flashed in my veins and a ringing began in my ears. All I knew was I had to get to Sloane. The urge to see her was intense, and I didn’t know why just that I had to with every fiber of my being. When I got to her she was in some sort of trance-like state, and it wasn’t due to the painkillers; that much was for certain.
