That was when he first heard, “Italian Earth”, “Spanish White”, “Prussian Blue”, and just the names of the colours, the sounds sent a warm shiver down his spine. The names were wonderful but they were invisible, because visibility comes only from colour. Perhaps brown, green, or yellow. Then he spoke about a painter who cut his ear off, but how could they understand? Everybody has his or her own, unique colour which makes the paint come to life. Paint is colour and colour is light, but we do not see the light, we feel it. The artist who cut his ear off felt the gold in brown and the green in black. The bell interrupted them. Their teacher told them to bring paper and paints to their next lesson. Somebody, overcome with anticipation, exclaimed, “Are we going to do a drawing?” He announced
