596 Words
Another summer day went on. The Supremos were very busy in their activities, but Andres stayed at home all day. He did not go to his usual hangout - the town proper. The family was not accustomed to see Andres at home for a whole day. That night, his parents talked to him. "It seems like you did not go out to town today. Isn't it that you love to walk around the town proper?" Ricardo asked Andres. "Yes, Dad," Andres replied. "Then why did you stay at home all day? Don't you know that there are many new things in town?" Tomasa asked. "Is there something that is bothering you?" Ricardo asked again. "Tell us, so that we can help you." "Mom, Dad, I have something to tell you, if you mind," Andres answered his parents. "Do you have a problem? Do you need something? Tell us," Andres's parents told him. "Mom, Dad, I want to go to the city to find work, if it is all right. I want to work for you, since you are growing old, gray, and weak. You have been supporting us for years, and now, I would like to show you my love and appreciation by working for you - in the city," Andres said. "You know, son, we are supporting you because God entrusted us our children - you. We also love you very much. We are not asking anything from you in return, and we will never do, because we know that we are the ones who must support you - not he other way around," Ricardo said. "But if that's what you want to do, we will let you go. We will give you time to think again. After some time, we will talk again about this matter," Tomasa added. "Okay, you sleep well, son. It is already late, and we all need strength for tomorrow," Ricardo said. The Supremos slept peacefully that night. Ricardo and Tomasa kept thinking of Andres's plans. Days passed. The time for the Supremos to talk again had come. Ricardo and Tomasa conversed again with Andres. "We will ask you again, son. Are you still going to the to leave for the city?" Tomasa asked. "I have thought of this a thousand times before, and I really want to help you. I still want to go and find a job in the city," Andres said. "I that is your decision, well, we are here to support you. We will let you go and find your work in the city, if you wish," Ricardo said to his son. "Well, son, when are you planning to leave for the city?" Tomasa asked. "I will give you, as well as myself, enough time to prepare for that matter," Andres answered. "All right, son. Just what we wish is you will find a good work in the city," Ricardo said. "Thank you, Dad," Andres answered gratefully. "And remember, son, wherever you go, we will never forget you, because we love you so much," Tomasa remarked. "And whatever will come, always remember that we are ere to help you, and we will be at your side when you need our help," Ricardo added. "I also love you, Mom and Dad, and my decision will be for our welfare. Just trust me," Andres said in return. "All right. It is getting late, so we better sleep," Tomasa remarked. "All right, Mom and Dad. Good night to you," Andres greeted. Good night, too, son," his parents replied. And the Supremos had a good night. The family slept peacefully.
