Andres was feeling thankful that night because kind Don Apolonio and his family gave him lodging and food. They were really a source of comfort for him, after his long, worrisome, and tiring trek to the city.
Don Apolonio Calderon, the hed of the family, was a mechant from the town of Binalonan. He had already settled in the city for years. He had been a friend of the Supremos when they were in the city, before they went back to their native land.
Dona Gracia, his wife, was an actress and a model during her youth. But since she had met Don Apolonio, she had fallen in love with him, and after they married, she gave up her career.
They had only one son, Margarito. He was a very handsome guy. Every day that he came out of the house, the girls of the city would stare at him, each of the girls dreaming that one day, she would be Margarito's mate. But Margarito seemed to have no such feelings for girls. He wouldn't mind even if a thousand beautiful and hot girls were following and surrounding him.
Like Andres, Margarito was also a good student. He was also topping his class, making his parents proud of him. But unlike Andres, Margarito was shy-type, and he was not an explorer.
The Calderons were also religious like the Supremos. On weekends, the family of Don Apolonio would go to their place of worship, like the one Andres went to, when he was home.
Margarito and Andres had such a close friendship while the latter stayed in the city. On weekends, they would go to the city proper to have leisure together, sometimes until the sun sets.
Andres was truly blessed to have the Calderons at his side. This family helped him in facing his problems in the city. Thanks to this merciful and loving family, Andres no longer missed his family. It was like he never left home.
