25. An unexpected stop

Regina was seated on the second bus that would take her halfway, gazing out of the window at the lush prickly pear cacti that grew spontaneously along the roadside in her region. She was called once again from the Sultan's ship number, but she decided to silence the call. Seeing that number only brought her a useless nostalgia. She had already made up her mind to go home; it was pointless to answer the calls. She hadn't called her parents yet, she had to tell them she was returning earlier than planned, however, she couldn't bring herself to do it. She certainly wouldn't say she had been dismissed, but even saying that she had left on her own initiative was not the best idea. they would surely reproach her for not being persistent enough and for missing out on a month of excellent salary
