CHAPTER ONE-2

The people went bananas.

“Is this true President David? Please address us!”

David looked at Stacey. A flashback of the death of Javelina startled and frightened him. He panicked for a bit but gathered his strength and courage.

“Of course, he won’t tell you the truth! I will tell you what we must do! We have to take her to the Eye of the Devil’s Eye Island and anoint her, then kill her!” Shouted Keaton.

Bogdan got up.

“Would that not increase their seat as we will be anointing one of them and not one of us?”

They all looked at Keaton.

“See, the system is designed to react to all parameters!”

There was a huge buzz.

“She is a traitor!” Shouted one.

“A bloody Trojan! If you ask me!” Shouted another.

“That’s private information and can’t be used here!” Shouted David.

“We have a right to protect our leaders and men. You can’t protect a traitor, a Trojan, and a spy!”

“Yes, Sir, with all due respect! If what you said is correct. Anything that threatens our whole existence can’t be justified! It becomes everyone’s responsibility for the very message you are advocating for!”

“She had no idea! It all happened when she was only five years old!”

“Tough luck!”

“Still doesn’t change the fact that technically she is one of them and can jeopardize our security and safety! To us, she is valuable, only if she is dead. That frees a vital seat! You, as our leader, what would be the best way to save us? Jesus, let them kill him! So, he can open doors for everyone else. As you appointed her to a leadership role. It also follows that she has indirectly pledged to die saving us! So, to save us, she must die! I don’t care if she kills herself or dies at the hand of another. Saving all of us is an important and paramount thing to do. All I am doing here is to remind her and give her that chance. The chance to save us! A chance to save my men! As their leader, they should not die unnecessarily when there is an easy option!”

They started applauding as he finished speaking.

“Sacrifice her!”

“She is a traitor!”

David rose up and roared.

“Silence! Stop all this nonsense! I will protect her with my own life! If that comes to that. Put yourself in her shoes! That can’t be an option. What you will be doing is to make her do something against her will! She came to us, meaning we must fight them for her!”

There was a huge roar. They interrupted.

“A Trojan horse! Can only destroy us in the future. It’s taking a snake in and if it bites you, who would you blame?”

Stacey started crying.

“I came to fight evil!”

She sobbed profusely.

“If these were the Oscars, she would get an Oscar for such a performance! But all crocodile tears! Think about the lives of those who died? If they were here today, ask yourself! Would they allow her in here when we know she still works for them? Above all! To us she is a treasure only if she is dead,” said Keaton.

“I don’t want to create divisions among you! I volunteered, and I can simply walk away from all this if I am unwanted!”

There was a huge buzz.

“Walk away then so we can come after you! Even David would not worry about that! As that is exactly what he was going to do, anyway!” Shouted Juliana.

“Help us as well! Walk away from all this. So, when we take you down no one feels guilty, that maybe you are one of us because you are not!”

She screamed in agony.

“What do you mean I am not?”

She pointed the gun at Juliana, who retaliated instantly.

“Walk away, Trojan! So that we send our best to take you out! Nothing personal, but your head will save a hundred men. Not just of men, but men of honor! So, walk away Trojan!”

Chanted the crowd non-stop.

“Listen to me! I gave Keaton a chance to speak. Now, let her speak as well!” Roared David.

She got out from behind the people and walked in the open in front of the leaders.

“I don’t want to die! But if I am to die, I must die fighting. I can’t be sacrificed. So, one on one with Keaton!”

She pulled her gun and walked toward him, aiming. Keaton flipped in the air somersaulting before landing near her and retrieved his gun and aimed hard. Jerking his head backward to push his hair locks backward, agitated that she challenged him. The people shouted and screamed as they locked eyes.

Keaton frantically kept twitching his nose, his-finger tightly on the trigger.

David roared and instantly pulled his gun and interchangeably aimed at them.

He roared.

“You are doing exactly what they want you to do! I would rather shoot you two first before you kill each other. I came here to find an answer and not to see you kill each other. Stop that now!”

Keaton looked unamused by all this.

“Even if this is the only way to save us all?”

Keaton asked David.

The crowd roared.

“Keaton is right! Why not? If this is the only option to save us!”

“Sir, I have the lives of my men to worry about rather than a traitor! This is how we treat spies and traitors. It’s a universal language and everyone understands it! We shoot them in the head in public like this!”

He aimed and fired.

Stacey flipped up spinning in the air landing in one place before flipping in the air again. Somersaulting to the side and landing on a different place. Then instantly flipped up again, but still in the air. She fired back just one shot. A loud but shot growl of pain sound startled everyone. She landed and smiled.

Keaton stood there speechless, looking at David. Slowly then looked at Stacey and raised the gun again.

“No! I will shoot you myself!” Roared David.

He touched his ear and looked inside his hand.

“She shot me! I can’t believe she shot me!”

She started laughing.

“She gave you a warning shot!” Shouted David.

“b***h! I’m going to kill you slowly?”

“Will see about that!”

“I can’t believe you shot me!” Thundered Keaton.

“I only fired a warning shot.”

She paused.

“Just a flesh wound. b***h!” Shouted Stacey.

“What did you say?”

The c*****g of the gun silenced all.

“I am not happy she is here!” Shouted Keaton.

“Yes, we all know now why because I am the best sharpshooter!”

She sarcastically taunted him.

“No! Not because of that. She might be leaking information. We don’t give our enemies the best and highest seats but put a bullet in the head!” He bellowed.

“So, you wish David had given you this position?”

“I requested to be his wingman because I worked hard, but it’s not about that. I want you to listen to me very carefully! It’s my men dying out there. The bond between my men and me is strong and special enough. That just their word of mouth is strong enough to use that for my life. It’s all wrong that they must die! When she is gloating and boasting like that. How can we sympathize with her?”

Bogdan got up.

“No shooting each other today! David is right, we need time to think about this. We heard everyone’s arguments, so let us decide on the best option as your leaders!”

They all put guns away.

“Keaton! I want you in my office,” shouted David before they all dispersed.

A quick and loud knock before Keaton entered David’s office.

“That was very unprofessional of you.”

“With all due respect boss, it is also unprofessional how my men are dying. A hundred gone just this past month. If there is an option. I just can’t risk the lives of these men. It’s a fact one way or the other you will appreciate my concerns. I am only afraid that by the time you might realize how serious this is. It will be too late. We have a chance on a plate. Why are we not taking it? What makes her special?”

“It could be you!”

“I would shoot myself if that means saving a hundred men!”

“If it’s that critical also to them, would they offer us a chance like this on a plate?”

“Maybe they were like you at the beginning of this assignment without a clue. So, the more we delay, the more we can lose this opportunity.”

David walked to the window and looked outside.

“We can use her to turn things our way. We can know more about the gold scriptures because she has a key to the gold scriptures.”

“Meaning?”

“She is one of only twenty-four people in the whole world who can open and read the gold scriptures. Imagine if we know the secrets they use, which are in those gold scriptures? Killing her now saves your men, that is a fact. But for a few hours as we delay the next phase, but every time we delay the coming stage. They automatically increase strength and capacity that means even tougher and ruthless in the following stage.”

Keaton breathed hard.

“Just sitting and doing nothing is as worse than that.”

“I have a plan. Do you want to know my plan?” Asked David.

He looked at him.

Bogdan and Carolina pushed the door open.

“Keaton has a point. Sacrificing her is the only risk-free tactic,” said Carolina.

“Nobody is touching her,” shouted David.

“They are clever! They used Javelina to weaken you, and so they get all this personal to you. So, you defend Stacey with your life at any cost. Their aim is to cause divisions using this Trojan to control you,” suggested Bogdan and Carolina.

“She is one of us now, and you must treat her as such.”

“Keaton is right. She pledged to die for the good of the group. This is what it means to protect the group. Sacrificing her means delaying everything. Maybe let’s hear your plan first?”

Instantly the door opened wide and Stacey ran inside.

“David!” She shouted excitedly but frowned instantly when she saw Carolina and Bogdan.

“You guys talking about sacrificing me again?” Asked Stacey, smiling.

“Sorry Stacey, they only sacrifice virgins so definitely not talking about you,” Carolina laughed sarcastically.

Bogdan and Carolina got up to go. Bogdan looked at David.

“Think about what we said!”

“Bye Stacey.”

They walked out.

“I know you are going to do me a Judas! Sell me cheaply when the tough get tougher. The more pressure they will put on you, the more you will submit. Imagine the phases that are still open? These will make Marson keep sending ruthless assassins to attack and ravage your men. Imagine then dying when you have an option? They will all up rise against you to kill me. In the end, when they have killed all your men, you will realize that you should have listened to Keaton, but that trauma can do you another Javelina.”

She burst into laughter.

David’s heart started pounding fast. That was a huge possibility and for sure, something he did not want to happen. Maybe take her to the safe house and just strangle her there. He thought to himself. Instantly she seemed to have read David’s thoughts that she wore a sad face.

He bursts into laughter.

“What’s funny?”

“I was just imagining putting a bullet in your head and all my men lifting me up high in the skies celebrating.”

“It’s not funny you know.”

“Okay, what do you want?”

She started crying.

“I don’t want to die. I ran away from them because I didn’t want to be sacrificed. Now, I am facing death, and everyone started talking about sacrificing me too. Now everyone I see taunts me, saying that it won’t be long now before one took me out with a bullet. That really hurts. I have no purpose but to die first?”

“That is exactly what I wanted to talk to you about. Keaton is right, but I think maybe we do it professionally.”

She got up, cursing.

“I knew it, Judas! Bloody Judas! You sold me already for thirty pieces of silver. I can’t believe it! I thought you were different from them!”

“Do you mean weak?”

“What? No, I am just saying that I choose your team because you are fighting evil. I read Tomorrow’s World Order.”

“Put your pants back on!”

“What? I don’t get your sarcasm.”

“Flattering me first so I am soft to you?”

“You know what? Now I understand why Javelina ran away!”

“Don’t bring her into this okay? She was a civilian, one who was training to leadership whereas you are combatant!”

“I will tell you why I ran away from them. I had nightmares most of the time, the same dream over again. In my dream, I was running in this dark passage. So dark that I couldn’t see anything. I fell several times but each time I got up and proceeded running from voices shouting. Get her and get her! Frightened to death, I ran fast in the dark passage and instantly saw a light signaling the end of the dark passage. That triggered me into running even faster but as I reached the end of the tunnel a shining huge knife from nowhere s***h my throat, that blood gushed out as I tumbled to the ground. The blood flowed into a drain down the drain system until a hoarse voice started shouting.

“Drain all her blood out and blow out the torch so we can claim another seat.”

“As all blood runs out of my body that light at the end of the passage was blown out. That after that everything became pitch black. A huge roar of applauding filled the passage. I felt floating as if falling in a deep pit, then instantly I woke up. The dreams had stopped since I started working for you until last night,” David looked at her.

“I put a gun to my head last night,” she started crying.

She looked at him.

“I must admit they are all right. I was born just to die and save everyone else at my expense. But this is so f****d up!”

“If I let you die, then I will become like them. That is exactly what they want me to do, the main reason they do this. But saving you means the lives of the team will end, too. How do I strike a balance?” Asked David.

“You can’t save both. You must choose. Me or them. Jesus chose a hooker. Magdalena, despite his men’s disapproval. Then look what happened to him; death came to him!”

Later.

Keaton, Carolina, Bogdan, Mat, Juliana, Mark, Stacey, David, and the others sat around the table.

“Keaton, tell us your plan again?”

“It’s simple. Take her to the Eye of the Devil’s Eye Island and anoint her since she is one of them. She needs to sit on any seat. She held the gold scriptures already, so it means she already has a key that opens the chapters and already has a chapter assigned to her. Now here is the trick. We all know that all the seats are taken as she is like a reserve. Anointing her gets her assigned someone else’s seat. As the system can only offer twelve of the twenty-four to the dark side, the devil side. Now a system error will be detected that now the system has thirteen recipients with only twelve seats available. A system error will be registered showing duplicates. That triggers an alarm, and the system automatically shuts down to reboot. My plan works here. The system will revert to the best-known configuration before introducing her into the system, but as they are duplicates. It also removes the person whose seat she sat on meaning when it reboots it has eleven seats waiting to select the correct one of the two. Now we must work fast and hack the system and get a list of all the keys. Then after rebooting it removes hers and places back the persons whom she had unseated. Now we ran a full report and identified whom she had unseated. We get that key’s number and properties. Once we have that we can use her to identify exactly who that person is. We can zone the two or use one as the trigger for the other. Meaning that when she arrives in the area, the other is. The other passes out. We then check who has been reported as fainted etc. and taken to hospital, etc.”

After the meeting, Keaton walked to Stacey and hugged her.

“Thank you for buying me time, you must have gone to great lengths to try to save me. Feeling guilty or afraid?”

“Don’t get me wrong, I am still going to kill you. This is just to distract David, so we can have that one on one. A date has been set already!”
