My Darling Knight: Chapter 3, "My New Me"

After a week of staying in this different world, Amelie started to accept her situation. She started to go outside and enjoy her new life with her newly founded family in the Astaria. She is getting along with the maids.

Today she decided to go the Velmora to finally meet the Duke, but not because she is excited to see the man that she going to marry. But because she had her own plan on how to get over this arranged marriage.

AMELIE’s POV

I am now on my way to the Velmora to meet my so called fiancé. My parents didn’t allow to go by myself but I insisted it and assure them that the accident will not going to happen again.

I didn't think Velmora was this far away. It was like a state away, but instead of a car, the vehicle was a carriage. But I wasn't too bored because I’m enjoying the environment, it’s beautiful and the air is so clean.

If only I could claim this life. I would rather live here because the people here are so kind and the people love me so much, I also miss my mother less because Marchioness Ellyn really makes me feel the love of a real mother. The same goes for the Marchion and master Anthoine.

Lady Amelia's life is so beautiful, but no matter what I do, her life will never be mine, because I'm just an impostor.

So now I'm going to Velmora to break the engagement because I have no right to be the Duke's wife. And another reason is that, I found out that the Duke of Velmora has no love for Lady Amelia, so I don't see any reason to continue with this engagement.

After a few more minutes of travel, the carriage finally stopped in front of the manor house of the duke. Several soldiers approached the carriage to help me get off.

I thanked them and they supported me until I reached the manor. When I entered, a maiden approached me and paid my respects.

MAID (bowing)

“Lady Amelia, we didn’t know you were coming.”

Actually, I don't even know how to let Velmora know that I'm coming today. I just give her a half smile thinking it was rude of me to come because I didn't even bother to tell her that I was coming.

Lady Amelia (smiling)

"I'm sorry, I forgot to tell my presence in advance."

I took a look inside the manor and the interior was truly breathtaking. Even from the outside, it was truly stunning to look at.

"Anyway, I just wanted to talk to the Duke."

MAID (still bowing)

“Yes, my lady. Please let me guide you to the private room first. I will inform the Duke that you are here to see him,”

The maid accompanied me to the private room and then announced that she was leaving to inform the duke of my presence.

I walked around inside the private room and it looked like this room was a place where they received important guests.

I was fascinated by the things inside this room. And I didn't realize that the maid who greeted me earlier had returned.

MAID (bowing)

"My Lady, I brought you tea and sweets so you won't be bored with the duke."

I sat on a couch and tasted the tea the maid brought.

Lady Amelia (smiling)

“Thank you so much. What is your name again?”

MAID (still bowing)

"I am Mathilda, My lady. If you need anything else, I am just outside."

Lady Amelia

“Thank you for your help, Mathilda.”

I saw Mathilda's expression that you thought was confused. I know Lady Amelia's reputation, they probably aren't used to the change in the Lady Amelia they know.

Mathilda finally left and I don't know how many minutes or hours I had been in this room, but I didn't care because the tea Mathilda served was really delicious, and so was the tea.

Suddenly the door opened and Duke Ceszar of Velmora entered. I swallowed hard as I caught a glimpse of his face. I suddenly felt embarrassed because the man in front of me seemed unusual. His face is strickingly handsome, as if he had been molded by a finest artist, his perfect jaw, his cheekbone, his brows, his perfectly pointed nose, a deep blue eyes and a lips that you would think were magically alluring as if you wanted to taste it.

I shake my head in this thinking. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME. YOU ARE HERE TO BREAK THE ENGAGEMENT.

I put my thoughts out of my mind. I adjusted my seat. Ceszar did the same.

Duke Ceszar (sitting frimly)

“So, what brings you here My Lady Amelia?”

His voice is deep and it’s so amusing.

“Aren’t you happy that you finally get what you want?”

Huh! This arrogant person also thinks highly of himself.

“Anyway, I am sorry about your accident, I heard it but I don’t have time to visit you.”

As if he really cares about Lady Amelia.

I can’t get enough with his ego.

LADY AMELIA

“You don’t have to worry about that, it’s just a small accident. No big deal.”

For week of staying here, I’m so serious of standing up for myself.

“Well, I’m here just to say that I want to break the engagement.”

I’m not sure about the outcome of this decision.

I felt horror to my veins when I saw his face. He look so serious and blank expression.

“I --- I mean, don’t you think this is absurd if we’re going to continue this engagement when this is just an arranged?”

I was about to stand up because of nervousness when Ceszar suddenly laughed out loud.

Duke Ceszar (laughing)

“Of course, very well, very well. I didn’t see that coming. I’m sorry.”

What is his problem?

“Okay, I was waiting for you to say it for a long time.”

The Nerve!

“Anyway, Let’s call it off this coming ball. I process every documents. And we will announce it in the ball.”

That makes me nervous. He got a problem don’t he?

Lady Amelia (smiling)

“Yeah, sure. Thank you so much for agreeing with me.”

He just stop laughing when I talked. Is he really mentally ill?

Lady Amelia (smiling)

“Well, I guess I will leave now. I don’t want to take any of your time.”

I stand up, and getting ready to leave.

Duke Ceszar

“Why not have lunch with me, you came all the way here.”

I looked at him with confusion.

“I mean, before you leave at least you are full and I don’t have to worry if anything happen to you again.”

I am not really hungry but since he’s a duke. I gladly accept his invitation.

He guided me to the garden and he’s being a gentleman for letting me sit first. And the maiden were started to bring the foods to the table. When they finished to bring the food to the table. He sway his hand as a sign that he wanted to leave the maids. And I saw it.

Lady Amelia

“It’s okay. They can stay.”

He was so confused.

“Are you sure?” While looking at me with his confused eyes.

“Yes” I answered

“But I thought you don’t like anyone around when you’re eating?”

“People change Ceszar” I smiled at him

I'm so proud of myself, now I can talk back to people. I'm not going to let people walk over me again and again. Though, it's not that I'm asking for an argument but rather, I'm just standing for myself because no one will do that for me but only me.
