Chapter 7— Forge?

1514 Words
THE CROWE'S RESIDENCE After listening to the most humiliating insult of her life, Ava went straight to her room. She could not even say anything to defend herself after all the nonsense Dominic had said. She just watched, and when he backed away, she ran out of his room. She was doing everything just to gain his trust, but he doesn't even trust her in the slightest way. He cares about their parents, He cares about Dylan, and even his oyster of an assistant has a fair share of his trust. But, why her? A frustrated sigh escaped her lips. She crouched to the floor, her back leaning on the door. Why fuçkin her?!!! Her head was entertaining a warring party, jealousy and desire clashing together. The deranged symphony made her c**k her head to the side, a thought settling in. She picked her phone beside her and searched up on Google 'how to make a man chase you'. ..... The first thing she saw was 'never be too accessible. Disregard him if he shows little to no interest in you.' Perfect! She finally found something useful. She propped herself down, her knees and hands on the floor as she crawled to her bed. She pulled out a suitcase from under it and unlocked it. Pictures, old books, love letters... So many of her precious things were in it. But, she was just looking for one thing—her memories with Dominic. Yes, to be able to make this man go crazy for her, she has to cut off any emotional ties with him, and she's starting with pics. She scattered the box and eventually found many of their pictures together. She took a lighter, and.. One by one, she began burning his side of their childhood pictures. When it burned his face completely, she blew air on it and it quenched. The smoke filed into her nostrils like oxygen and the more she inhaled, the more intoxicated she became. A slow, calculated smirk appeared on her face. "You live like ashes in my box, but burn brightly in my heart, Dominik. I know how to play this game now." She whispered as she watched the burnt picture fall back into the box from her bare, bony fingers. [ The following day. The Hamptons, long Island ] Valeria's apartment ~ 7am The buzzing sound of her alarm woke her up from her dream land, her eyes winking open in discomfort. She annoyingly stretched her hand to the bedside table and turned it off. A frustrated sigh left her lips as she sat up on the bed. Last night was a hectic night, but Victoria had to leave because her parents called. They spent the night playing games and when she left, Valeria had to resort to singing her heart out. Though, she really didn't have a good voice, she still loved singing. And she wasn't shy about it either because it's not as if anyone has seen her sing before. Even Victoria doesn't know about her ear blasting talent. She would rather eat s**t from the grass than let anyone know about how croaky her voice sounds when she sings. She glanced around beside her and picked up her tablet on the bed to go through her to-do list for the day. “Yep. LOA it is.” She said, smiling enthusiastically. She stood up and walked into her bathroom, starting her day with chaos. [Tarrytown]★ Law & Order Associates Firm ★ 8am, A peach coloured car stopped right in front of the company. The revving sounds of the tyres halted as the car came to a stop. A valet rushed to the car, but before he could open the door, Valeria stepped out in her corporate gray skirt suit. “Good morning, ma'am. Welcome back to the firm.” Oliver, the valet said and Valeria took off her sunglasses. “Come on Oliver. It was just a day.” Valeria said, handing him the keys, which he held carefully. “Right…the air hasn't been too lively without you.” He said, winking at her. He entered the car and she watched him go park it at the company's car park. Her brows arched in confusion as she stood rooted to the floor. “Di…did he just flirt with me?” She shook her head and continued her walk into the company, the electronic doors opening for her. Her heels clicked sharply against the polished floor of the Metropolitan Prosecutorial Bureau as she strutted in. The sharp buzz of printers, rustle of paper files, and low voices filling the air. "Morning counselor," one of the younger assistants greeted nervously. She turned her head and smirked. "Morning Josh." She continued her walk, while he followed. "The DA wants to see you." Josh said. She nodded, her eyes unreadable. "That's exactly where I'm going," she said. "He has to explain himself." She whispered, too low for him to hear. ~District Attorney's Office ~ She didn't knock. She just pushed open the door to her supervisor's office. “Mmm, sir..” A loud moan sounded. Valeria's eyes widened as she took in the provocative sight in front of her. On the office chair was her supervisor, Julian with an intern, Nica who was straddling him. He was nipping at her neck, his hands on her hips, and their hair and clothes disheveled. Valeria immediately turned around, shaking her head to somehow forget what she saw. Julian was the first to see her. He pulled away from Nica and pushed her off his laps. Nica stood up, straightening the edges of her skirt and rushing out. Valeria moved out of the way for her. She counted ten seconds in her head before turning around. Julian already composed himself. He was arranging his hair back in place and intentionally avoiding her eyes. “So…,” she smiled cheekily at him. “My strict supervisor who always preached not to mix pleasure with work…was actually doing the same thing behind our backs. Should I tell the others?” She teased. Julian sighed in embarrassment, pleading with his eyes. “No no, Valeria. It's not what you think. I have no idea how it even happened.” He said quickly. “It looked like you did. You finally got the girl your eyes were on. Haven't you?” She smiled mischievously, and his face reddened. “Anyways, not my problem. I'm here for another reason.” She walked to his desk and put her purse on it. He looked up. “If it's about the case, then I can't say.” He said. Valeria's eyes narrowed. “Why was my case reassigned, Julian? Start talking or I'll tell everyone about your little escapade.” She threatened, and his eyes widened. “Fine fine. I'll tell you. Your case was reassigned because…” He trailed off. “Because?” she asked. Meanwhile, somewhere in Bronxville. [ Greystone & Ford Law Firm ] “Good morning, sir.” “Good morning, sir.” “How have you been, sir?” “We have missed you in the firm, sir.” All the greetings passed through one ear and went outside the other as Dominic strolled through the crowd. His assistant, Reynaldo walked behind him nervously, serving polite smiles to the employees who greeted. “Atleast you should have answered their greetings. They wish you well.” Reynaldo said when they were out of sight. “I didn't demand for any concern. That's ass-licking at its finest.” Dominic scoffed, walking faster. “You were all over the news yesterday. Of course, many people would want to improve on their social ties.” Reynaldo replied, trying to keep up with Dominic's long strides. Dominic scoffed without saying anything as they entered the elevator. Reynaldo pressed the button for the top floor and the door closed slowly. At the top floor, Reynaldo opened the office door for Dominic and he stepped in. “Moy drug.” (My friend). A man turned around to face them, smiling widely at Dominic. Dominic raised a brow. He walked towards his chair, pulling it out and sat down calmly, but comfortably. “What are you doing here, Alina?” Dominic questioned, deadpanned. The man frowned, visible lines forming on his forehead. “My name is Artem, you fool.” Dominic chuckled. “You're biologically a woman. So you'll always be Alina to me, friend. What brings you here?” Artem rolled his eyes, handing him a file. Dominic took it and opened it. “Eto ochen’ vazhnoe delo.” (It is an important case). Artem spoke again and Dominic closed the file, jaws clenching. “Don’t speak Russian here.” He ordered. “But, you understand Russian. I'm saying this because of him.” Artem said, pointing at Reynaldo who was standing at the far corner of the office. Dominic waved for him to leave. He returned his focus back on Artem. “So, you decided to forge my signature on a document that I know nothing about?”
