Hide and Seek with Death

Chapter 3 Hide, hide, hide! Please...

Time: 4 hours since Alpha left

Place: An abandoned classroom building

Crow and Gull along with their human baggages are the first one to leave the hollow cave. They think that nothing's gonna be accomplished if they only choose to stay inside. They are also one of the few who was able to collect themselves in a short period of time.

Their first step outside lets them see something that makes them open their eyes wide. It doesn't makes sense to them what they are saying. Everything around is deteriorating and full of dust. The plaster on the walls are already turn off, the window panes are either broken or missing, the floors are full of cracks everywhere, papers are scattered all around and broken wooden desks are all around. There is no doubt about it. They are inside an old school. There are corridors and classrooms but nothing about it is what they can remember.

"We are still in another place it seems.", murmured Crow. He is still carrying Raven in his back but it would seem that it would not be a problem since there are no one around.

"I think so, anyway, let's get going and check things out", as he says that he turns to his left where there are scattered papers around. "If this is a game, then who knows who is around to search for us."

The two of them continue in their walk. They maintains a one meter distance from each other with Gull leading the way. The classroom are beyond repair than they imagine now that they see it up close. The two did not talk but they remain vigilant of the surroundings.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

A few minutes later, they heard a loud voice from the hole that they had came from. The both of them immediately turned around. They found nothing but they knew.

"Something is happening inside."

"I know, Crow but we cannot turn back. We must find a place we can use to hide. We do not know when the seekers will come."

"Right behind you, Gull."

Inside Alpha's space, a commotion had started. Sparrow who was just unmoving a few minutes ago suddenly stand up and bursts into a shout. The people around her turned her way whether they are in right minds or not.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Parrot and Peacock who was using her as a stress reliever are the ones who is the most surprised of the way she asks.

"H-hey! She was just fine a few minutes ago!"

"I-I don't know. Don't ask me."

"AHHHHHH!!!!!! Just shut up!!!", Sparrow is raging in anger. The moment she hear their voices, she held her head with both hands and say, "You are so noisy! You are so a bully!!! I CAN'T TAKE it anymore!!!!"

It was hard to imagine what is going on her mind right now. She isn't in her usual self and it cannot helped. All of them just died three times and she was one of them.

She did not stop in just shouting and moving around like a madman with both hands on her head. She ran around wildly until she left the hollow cave. No one does a thing to stop her as it can only be futile.

What happened next?

Of course, nothing. The noise stop as soon as she left but everyone see what she had done. It does not matter if she is crazy or not. The people here do not care. Most of them are not.

Peacock and Parrot, on the other hand, cannot control their anger on the way she behaves as both of them grips their hands to a fist so hard that a little more force and their bones will surely break. They are planning to go after Sparrow who just suddenly ran away.

"That girl.. who does she think she is?!"

"I cannot take it. Let's follow her, Linét."

After that they immediately followed suit.

Then...

Something strange had happened.

All at once. Alpha's words resounded on their brain. It is like a music playing on your ears but there is nothing in this place that can serve as a radio or the sorts. It is their mind reminding them of everything that was said and told.

"I did not say that your name will vanish but you cannot speak of it anymore because this is a special place."

There are two person around Sparrow earlier. Both of them ties their hair in braids. The both of them do not have anything in their possession aside from their cellphones, their eyeglasses and their clothes. The only difference between them is that one of them is blonde- this is Lunettes, while the other is brunette who is called Linét.

The moment that Linét's real name was spoken, this girl immediately slumps on the ground. She did not move from where she is.

Penguin immediately approaches her out of worry but even before she was able to do so, the girl dissolves into a pool of blood. She was not able to do anything as she was left standing there. She puts a hand to her mouth as she tries to stop the vomit rising from her stomach. The image of a person turning into blood in an instant is as horrendous as seeing a body being melted into fire. No bones are left of her body as it also became liquid and dyes her clothing into a bright red.

Parrot was late to realize what had happened as she only see a pool of blood with the clothes of her friend in it. Her knees weakens to the point that she can no longer stand and tears silently pours down from her eyes. She cannot speak nor she cannot place a hand to her face. She just cries with tears falling from her face and staring at her friend. Many minutes passed that she remains like this as if time had stopped and nobody was able to speak a word after it happened.

"I did not say that your name will vanish but you cannot speak of it anymore because this is a special place."

The voice repeats itself. It is like a reminder of what will happen when you do not forget your name and use the new names bestowed by the Alpha. It is insane but they learned of the truth firsthand.

First Death: Linét Occhiali Student Number 110991

In accordance with her designation, she dies with everyone looking at her in four sides.

As if it is a joke out of nowhere, the phones of all people receives this message. As to whether all of them had seen it, no one will be able to tell.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!"

Sparrow seems out of her mind as she run as fast as she can away from the hollow cave. She did not mind the obstacles of broken desks and chairs around her as it tores into her skin and her green hoody. She continues her frenzy as soon as a single misstep causes her to tumble down.

"This is so crazy. I cannot laugh and I can't walk. And now I am even finding it hard to even talk." As soon as she says, a certain song begins to play in her head. It may be ridiculous as it seems but this is her only way of relieving the stress she is feeling at the moment. She is just here to have a chance of getting money and now she is being dragged into this frenzy. Who could even laugh or smile at this.

"Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Everything that she is doing seems so helpless that all she wanted to do is to cry at the thought of it.

Stomp. stomp. stomp. stomp.

She did not even bother to raise her head anymore as she find it a chore.

"I do not care anymore if I die here right at this instant. Just let me die in peace!", she thought to herself.

Then the sounds of the foot stops just near her, a familiar voice asks her.

"Hey, what do you think you are doing?"

When she looks up, she saw Angelo giving a hand to her. She feel like her heart jumps a beat in seeing him. She immediately takes his hand and stand up.

"Before anything else, I want you to know that you can call me Gull now."

"Ah, yes. We have new names right now, isn't it? You can call me Sparrow for the meantime."

After the introductions, Gull immediately takes her hand and told her to run.

"Run!!"

They both take the path back to the hollow cave. Gull did not explain anything to her as they just run without regard to their surroundings. He just takes her hand and then goes somewhere with her.

Sparrow understands what happened when she looks behind once.

And there...she see a black shadow. It is wearing a black hood with nothing that can be seen from where its face should be. It is out of the ordinary but more than that, it is carrying a huge scythe over its shoulders as it moves speedily towards them.

Or what it should be doing... but it just stop when it reaches the hole towards the hollow cave.

This being that looks like death itself is the entity that will seek them. She can understand that clearly. It is also the reason why they are running from it. The thing is...

Even if it no longer follows them, it doesn't mean they are safe.

But...

The people inside the hollow cave are not safe.

She do not why but she shouted the words that she knows no one will reach. It is too late for the people inside once death finds them.

"Hide, Hide!!! Please....."

"There is nothing that we can do.. huff for them anymore."

"..please..."

Basic Facts:

Everything that Alpha said was true. Doubts can only bring more doubts. In this situation where you cannot trust anybody and you do not know where you are, you can only test your luck.

Linét Occhiali is the first to die in this game. What will happen to her soul is yet unknown thus, this will be something that will weigh on most people.

Forget your name but remember your name. All names here have a great significance and unless you have a name of a bird given to you, nobody in this place will be able to remain.

All territories have to their own rules.In this place, in order to reach somewhere, you cannot use names which you use as a proof of existence from another world. In this world, you are not someone who exists if your name belongs somewhere else.
