CHAPTER FIVE Years passed, Juhanah successfully finished her primary school education. Her graduation ceremony was modest, Juhanah's classmates visited, food and drinks were served. Juhanah graduated as the best graduating pupil, as the celebration was ongoing, they thanked God for bringing them that far. Education as they do say is the key to success, To Juhanah it was more than that, it was filled with u forgettable memories, valuable lessons, and beautiful friendships Soon, Juhanah gained admission into secondary school, the new phase brought progress, gradually, she was introduced to new subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, Geography. Slowly, she discovered a lot. She joined extracurricular activities, like debates, quiz. She presented her school in different competitions and won numerous awards. Despite all of this, she was humble, she never looked down on struggling students, she took them along, she patiently taught them privately, she believed knowledge is meaningful when shared. As she approached her final year, Waec and neco awaited her, she spent long hours reading, attending lessons, studying and solving past questions. Her mother supported her, bought educational materials for her and encouraged her constantly. Months later, results were released, Juhanah passed with excellent grades, she was admitted into a prestigious university to study accounting. Moreover, university life opened another exciting chapter. The campus was surrounded with beautiful opportunities. During her first week, she attended orientation programmes, met people from different states and countries. It didn't end there, she actively participated in student associations, research with this, it sharpened her Communication skills, and created room for friendship, the experience sharpened her confidence. Each semester sharpened and strengthened her. She spent countless times studying. The library became her home, it became her daily routine. Finally, after years of commitment, perseverance and sleepless nights. On this fateful day, Juhanah dressed in her beautiful graduation gown. Juhanah's name echoed in the spacious and well-decorated hall, she walked confidently, to receive her degree. From the audience, her mum watched with tears of joy, streaming down her cheeks, memories gushed into her mind, the days of hunger, the unpaid school fees, the unlucrative fruit business, and the sleepless nights gushed into her mind. Happily, she ran into her mum's arms. “Thank you mum, for not giving up on me, no me without you…” she said sobbing. “I knew, you would make me proud someday…” she replied softly. Indeed, it was an emotional scene. “Thank you mum…..” Juhanah's journey reminded people that success is not reserved for those people born into wealth. It belongs to those who never give up,those who refuse to surrender, those who remain hopeful during storms, those who believe in themselves.
