Chapter Twenty-One
They went back into the imperial palace faster than Lucas expected for them to return.
He stood at the main entrance as he saw Mathew gently lifting Celine from the horse and gently putting her on the ground.
‘Looking at them, the emperor looks like he was her protective older brother. Or maybe I am the only one who’s thinking that way?’ he thought as he eyed the three kings who were staring at Celine and Mathew with a meaningful gaze.
Lucas' eyes then glanced at the lady who just went out of the carriage.
‘Ah, now I get it,’ Lucas thought.
He approaches Mathew and Celine wearing his usual smile.
“Your majesty, it’s good that your back,” Lucas uttered.
“Yes, it is,” Mathew replied.
“Your majesty, there was a reply from the two tribes,” Lucas whispered at him.
He received Mathew’s meaningful gaze before he eyed Celine.
“I’ll be going first Celine if you want to rest you could,” Mathew mumbled.
“Thank you, master,” Celine answered.
Mathew glance at Casis and the rest.
“The three of you should come with me,” he announced.
“Yes your majesty,” Casis replied while Nathan and Allen nodded their heads at him.
“Your majesty,” Monica called walking towards him.
“I’m sorry Lady Monica but I need to go now,” Mathew said as he smiled at her apologetically.
“Yes, yes may go now, there’s no need to apologize, your majesty,” Monica replied with a smile and glanced at Celine.
“Master, please excuse me but I need to go back to my room. If ever you need me just call for my name and I’d be there,” Celine uttered before she excuse herself and gracefully went her way.
“Then, I’ll be on my way now, your majesty, it’s good to have a good stroll with you in the capital,” Monica said as she bowed her head.
Mathew responded with a smile before the lady went back to her carriage.
As they stroll down the long hallway of the palace, there was a strange silence overwhelming between them.
“Your majesty,” Casis called.
“Yes?” he replied.
“I am quite astonished by you these past days,” Casis said.
“And why is it?” Mathew responded as he eyed him.
“As you can see your majesty, please don’t think of my words as offending rather I hope you see it as a suggestion. It’s a good thing that your relationship with Celine is getting better but I hope this relationship is not something that could block our goals,” Casis uttered.
Nathan and Allen glanced at each other before they glanced at Casis.
“I am aware of it Casis, however, I couldn’t see any risk of failure just because our bond started to get better,” Mathew said.
“Then, it’s good to know that, your majesty. I hope it gets well to all of us and to the world,” Casis responded with a smile.
Lucas remained silent as he walks behind them.
“Yes I hope so,” Mathew commented as they entered his office, “Have a seat gentlemen,” he announced as he sits on his chair.
The three men sit on the couch while Lucas stands beside Mathew.
“Lucas,” Mathew called.
“Yes, your majesty?”
“Please hand me their replies?” he requested.
“Yes, your majesty,” Lucas replied as he handed him the two letters.
There was a crease between Mathew’s eyebrows as he read the letters.
“Your majesty, may we know what is their reply?” Allen asks.
“The elves don’t want to set foot in the palace and I need to personally go to them. While the dwarves agreed to meet me here, their leader will come after two days,” he announced.
“As expected, the elves are really hard to handle,” Nathan commented.
“But we can’t also expect some good outcome from the dwarves too, to think their presence is dangerous if they set foot in the palace,” Casis said.
“Yes it is, there is a high risk that they plan to assassinate you, your majesty,” Allen uttered as he stared at Mathew.
“We should plan this carefully, for everyone’s safety and ensure the world’s survival,” Mathew replied.
“Yes we should, but there’s another issue we also need to look at, your majesty,” Allen commented.
“Yes I am aware,” Mathew answered as he breathes in distress.
“We all know that aside from the bad relationship between the two tribes and the royalties, both of them also has a hatred from sorcerers,” Allen continued.
“I am quite worried if the former emperor will know about Celine’s identity,” Nathan commented.
Mathew breathes in exhaustion as he eyed the big window beside his table.
He is aware of these issues, the only persons who know that Celine is a sorcerer aside from them are his mother and sister, but his father has no idea at all, other than the world is ending.
His father's sole knowledge about Celine's identity is that she is a kind of special weapon from the gods and not a sorcerer.
Mathew is in distress that he didn’t inform Celine about these problems and was having a hard time grabbing a chance to tell since he couldn't find words to explain it briefly at her.
The tribes, also have hatred for sorcerers knowing this, he chooses not to let them know because of the assurance that they will decline to help them if ever they’ll know Celine’s identity. Aside from these, Mathew is also having a hard time how to inform humanity about the end of the world.
His eyebrows furrowed from all the problems he remembered.
“Let’s think these all through,” Mathew announced as he massages his temple.
“Yes we should,” Nathan responded as he leans his back on the couch.
“But your majesty, what will you do if in case the former emperor met her unexpectedly and discovered Celine as a sorcerer?” Nathan asks.
He breathes hoping he could release some of his stress.
“Let’s hope that it will not happen too soon before I figured a solution to these dilemmas,” Mathew replied.
Meanwhile, Celine who was already in her room laying on her bed keeps staring at the ceiling.
“I’m not sleepy anymore,” she mumbled as she sits on her bed.
She glance at the window and saw the orange sky.
‘What? It’s already sunset?’ she thought as she stands from sitting on the bed.
“I should stroll for a while,” she whispered as she exited the room.
Walking along the hallway she glances at the rose garden through the big window. She could also see the big fountain at the center and the large oak tree from the distance.
As she exited the palace and stroll in the big garden, the wind started to blow hard making her hair sway with it.
She can smell the fragrance of the flowers and glance at the sky then returned her gaze at the blooming flowers beside her.
She walk towards it and started to touch its petals.
‘Why would humans love this? It will all just wither when the time comes,’ she thought.
“It’s the first time I saw you here, you must be Celine, the lady that my son mentioned,” a voice uttered.
Her emerald eyes gaze at the aged man in his early fifties who’s standing in front of her. Its brown hair is slowly turning to white, has a lean body, and has the same physique as Mathew.
She met his gaze and notice his dark-brown eyes.
‘Lucas is right, he really looks like master despite their different eye colors, it is like I’m looking at my master’s older version,’ her mind commented.
“…Yes I am, your majesty,” she answered and bowed her head as a sign of respect to him.
The man smiled at her and was about to start a conversation when someone interrupted them.
“Father,” a familiar voice called.
Celine glance at the man standing not too far from them.
“Ah, Mathew. It’s nice to see you under this good weather,” his father said with a smile.
Lucas who was standing behind Mathew, secretly glance at Celine and at the former emperor. He can’t help but get nervous about the possibilities because of the unexpected moment.
He’s too worried about what might happen next.
