Anila's POV
Beep beep beep
I groaned and turned over to turn off my alarm. I felt exhausted, but I only had myself to blame. I'd stayed up way to late again, knowing I had to get up early for work. God, I hated my job.
I sat up and grabbed my glasses, blinking the sleep from my eyes. Grumpy, I made my way to my closet and grabbed some blue dress pants and a black button up with my black shoes.
Once I was dressed I made my way to the bathroom, finding that the door was closed and could hear the shower running.
"Melissa! C'mon!" I shouted. "I'm going to be late again if you're not out in 2 minutes"
"You shouldn't snooze your alarm so many times then!" I hear giggles and a men's voice.
"Seriously? You brought a guy home again? Steven is never going to take you seriously like this!" moans started coming from the bathroom so I turn my heel and head to the kitchen.
I serve myself some coffee and pop some toast in the toaster, catching up on social media while I wait.
More politicians were going missing then coming back like nothing had happened. It had been such a weird week.
I look at the time and groan, jumping up and running towards the door. I had no time to brush my hair or teeth. Good thing I had practice and had a toothbrush in my car as well as a hair brush.
I jump in my car and get it going, the window slightly frozen. As I brush my teeth I feel eyes on me and look out my windshield. It looked like a guy with bright eyes. I blink and the guy was gone.
Great, now I'm seeing things. I spit outside my car door and head to work not giving much thought to the mysterious figure.
-------------------
I'm blasted by giggles as I enter my apartment. Great. Full house tonight and I'm still feeling worn out.
"Anila!" Melissa grabs my wrist and drags me to the living room where our 2 other friends are sitting. "Great, now that we're all here, let's talk about what club we're hitting tonight!"
I roll my eyes and plop down next to Cindy. She's the calmer one so I feel safe sitting next to her. She just glances at me with amusement.
"Hi," she smiles.
"Hi," I smile back.
"Guys," Lisa waves her arms at us. "It's Friday, it's been a long ass week and we need to go out. Especially you Anila."
"I do-" I'm interrupted by Cindy.
"I agree. It's been 6 months since Josh broke up with you and you haven't gone out to even a bar since," Cindy grabs my hand. "We're not saying meet someone."
"Though getting laid may do you some good," Melissa interrupts.
"Mel!" Cindy shakes her head then looks back at me. "But that said, you do need to go out."
I look at my friends and sigh. I know they're right. I should go out, have some fun. "Fine."
"Yay!" Lisa smiles. "I'll help you pick out an outfit and do your hair."
Three hours later and we were ready. Lisa has a boyfriend and dresses to party but classy. She has on a white one shoulder strap dress that is tight and goes down just above her knees. For shoes she's rocking some badass red stilettos. She tells us her goods are all for Sean and that's why she doesn't show much cleavage.
We all have bets for when he'll propose. They've been together a year. I say any day now. Melissa says at their 2 year anniversary, and Cindy says when they've been together 18 months.
Melissa lands on a red mini skirt and black tube top. She wears black booties to match and her red copper hair is pulled up in a high pony. She dates a lot but is really in love with our friend Steven. He has no idea and she refuses to tell him.
Cindy borrowed my black strappy dress and silver heels. Hair chocolate brown hair is left loose and straight. She is the type of woman that catches men's eyes because she's very pretty, but not over the top. She's smart too. Collected.
Lisa picked out for me a deep green dress with spaghetti straps and s plunging neckline and back. The skirt is mid thigh which makes me a little anxious. I hadn't gone out like this in a while. For shoes she has me wearing gold pumps. My black curly hair is left down, landing softly on my shoulders.
"Alright, let's get this over with," I drink a shot of whisky as pregame and we go to our order ride share.
The club is loud and busy. The girls quickly drag me to the dance floor and eventually I start to relax. I start having fun. Drinking and dancing was just what I needed.
"Anila has an admirer!" Lisa shouts at us over the music. Sean was already here dancing with her.
"Where?" Cindy and Melissa ask excitedly.
"There," she points at the bar and we all look. He's tall, eyes bright, with dark hair. He looks familiar but I can't put a finger on where I've seen him.
"He's cute!" Melissa squeals in my ear. "Go say hi."
"No way!" I step back.
"C'mon," Cindy takes my hand. "I'll go with you."
I sigh and give in. Dear lord how was I going to speak to someone that gorgeous without sounding like an i***t.
"Hi! I'm Cindy and this is my friend Anila," I blink and find myself in front of this guy.
"Hi, I'm Dimitri," he smiles, his eyes shining brighter. They were so blue, I could drown in them.
*Dimitri POV*
I see her blush and immediately I'm drawn to her, more than ever before. She didn't seem to remember her which was both good and bad.
"You guys come here often?" I ask.
"No, first time here, " her friend, Cindy? respond when Anila stayed quiet. "You?"
"A bit, yeah," I respond, not taking my eyes off Anila. "So what brought you here tonight?"
Anila's friend elbows her, "Oh, um..." she bites her lip and I have to stop myself from licking my lips. "They, my friends I mean thought I needed to go out."
She's shouting. That's right, she doesn't know I can hear no problem. So I just nod.
Bzz bzz
I look at my phone.
Trish: I know you're here, you need to get back here!
"You okay?" I see Anila looking at me, her friend nowhere in sight.
"Yeah, uh, I have to get to work," I say sadly.
"Oh," she looks disappointed.
"Look, wait here for a few minutes, okay?"
"Okay?"
I wink and head to the back.
