Chapter Three

Jason’s POV

Lizzie’s father Edward and mother Grace led us into their home office. Edward immediately turned to me and asked if I thought the girls were targeted or if that was a coincidence? I am very positive those men were from the elite hit squad from the Harvest Moon pack. My question is how they found Lizzie, we have been very careful not to be in the spotlight for anything…… We even turned down award ceremonies that involved Lizzie. She doesn’t even know her real name is Selina or that she has a wolf, or possibly powers or beings she can shift into. She most definitely has no clue she is a supernatural. Much less that she is a double tribrid.

You just have to get her to accept the position that I have offered her so we can make sure she is safe. Then she will be in a safer place to awaken her shifter forms and discover her powers. Edward asked how can we make sure she accepts it? Oh I have a plan to get her to say yes to it… it’s on its way here… ding…ding.. I picked up my phone and said strike that it’s here now in the driveway.

Let’s go get Lizzie so we can show her why working for me is a good idea. We go back to the party and the cake comes out with a picture of all four girls. Someone says it’s time for gifts.

I step forward and announce that Lizzie needs to see the gift I brought her. Everyone ushers her out of the house and out to the driveway. She stands there afraid to breathe or say anything and just looks at me not understanding what is happening. Lizzie the car is yours, it’s a gift from me and the company. She looks at me like she doesn’t understand and then it clicks……really she says as she jumps in and asks if she can take it for a quick spin as she looks hopefully at her parents. Her mother says just a quick one as there are other gifts to open and you all have guests. The other girls jump in and she starts the car and grins really big as the engine roars to life. They drive off promising to be quick.

As we walked back in her father says are you sure they will be safe after the attack earlier…. I say I don’t think they will chance it again so soon also they won’t expect us to let them out of our sight so soon. We all nodded in agreement and walked back out to the guest who had made their way back to the backyard and the food.

While the girls were gone I checked in with my mother and asked her once again if she was sure that Lizzie was my mate. My mother scoffed and said do you question my ability to see the future? No mother but I am just making sure that you were 100% sure of your vision. Tell me why she doesn’t know that she has a wolf, all she said was in time all will be made clear as to why… you know I can’t tell you or it could change the future. I have told you all I can and maybe more than I should have.

Why can’t she sense her wolf, I know it was suppressed but it should have worn off by now. Without her wolf she will never be able to sense me as her mate.

I hate how insecure this has made me. I am never less than confident about everything else in my life until her. Why can’t anything with her be easy, instead it seems doubly difficult.

I know she is totally worth all the stress and anxiety over her safety until she knows her true identity. I just hope I can keep her safe until she is ready and knows who and what she is.

I hang up with my mother and go back to the party just as Lizzie and her friends get back.

She looks so innocent and an ethereal beauty as she glows in happiness with a million dollar smile. I have to adjust myself as she affects me like no other can or ever has, my mother must be right.

Lizzie comes over to thank me for the car, and I tell her that is just the beginning of the extras my employees enjoy.

Lizzie says I was not sure if I wanted to move so far away from my family for my first job, I want to be at Vulpine Design……I would however like a couple of weeks to relax and pack, if that’s ok? Of course you can start after the fourth on that Monday.I raised my glass and toasted her joining my company.

I walked over to her friend Tabitha and offered to take her to get her car before it gets towed. She said yes please and we told everyone where we were going and would be right back.

As we got closer to where her car was I saw a black suv sitting there with six men just waiting and watching her car. I didn’t think anyone would have still been there, so I didn’t bring backup. I pulled over out of sight to watch them without being seen.

As we sat there Tabitha asked me what is going on, why are they after me? I didn’t want to try to explain this so I just played dumb and said I don’t know. Explains the seemingly impossible existence of supernatural beings to a human is a bit too daunting even for me.

Tabitha asked so what do we do now? I explained that I was hoping that they would soon give up for now and leave soon as it’s starting to get dark. Why would that matter, she asked?They aren’t from around here so they have a long way to go to get home.

They did actually pack it in and leave about twenty minutes later. Tabitha started to get out and I stopped her. Wait I said, it could be a trick, let’s just give it another twenty minutes before you get in your car and go straight to the Griffin’s, DO NOT STOP for anything!!
