The Hidden Queen’s Destiny

Chapter Two

Margo starts the drive back to my house for the graduation party our parents decided to throw for all of us together knowing we would want to celebrate together. We were almost there when we saw a car broken down in the middle of the road. We approached cautiously, but relaxed when we saw it was a little old lady all by herself, so we decided to stop and try to help her. We pulled up beside her and asked her what was wrong with her car. She said that it just stopped running suddenly, and I don’t know why.We got out to take a look and see if we could help… well if Tabi can help. Just as we were looking under the hood another vehicle came screeching around the curve and six huge men got out and started running towards us, I heard one word in my head……RUN!!!!

I didn’t take time to think about the fact that I was listening to a voice in my head. I yelled at the other girls to run. We ran up the hill and into the woods, trying to find a place to hide. We ran down the hill on the wooded side and saw a cave and I ran in and motioned for the others to follow me. I know this cave, I played here when I was about ten years old when I wasn’t allowed to go to my friend’s houses. I remember it coming out on the other side near my house in the woods. Fortunately it gets pretty tight for even us girls to get through so we know that those guys can’t follow us. Just as we were walking out the far end of the caves, we could hear them cursing because they couldn’t fit through the narrow passageway. We were running down the hill so fast we almost fell down the last few feet.Then we pushed through the boxwood hedge into my backyard. Our parents rushed over asking questions and can see we are scared. We start explaining all at once while still running not making much sense as we reach our parents.

We finally calm down enough to tell them what had happened to us. We told them how we stopped to help an elderly woman whose car had broken down and how the SUV showed up screeching to a stop close to us and a bunch of scary men started running towards us, and they all go white as a ghost. Jason walked over asking us if we remember anything special about the men… I told him that they were huge and they had a tattoo of a wolf with a red sun or moon behind it. Jason looked at my dad and said Sir I think we should talk privately in your office.

Once they left we asked my mom what that was about and she said she didn’t know, but she looked scared and I knew she was hiding something. My mom and my friends parents just hugged us and said that they were just so happy that we had gotten away safely, and found our way home. My dad and Jason came back out and went over and told the other parents something and they went back to the party like nothing happened.

We looked at each other and then shrugged our shoulder because we didn’t have a clue why they just dropped the subject like it never happened. I mean we were chased by strangers what the heck. Is someone going to go get Tabi’s car, I mean I’m pretty sure she left it with the keys still in the ignition. No one seemed concerned about it so I just let it go for now, and went back to the party.

As the cake came out each of our parents gave a speech letting us know just how proud they were of our academic achievements. When they were done Jason got up and announced that he was giving me the position at Lupine and he hoped that I would accept the offer. I was about to say I would have to think about it when my parents said of course she would be honored to accept. Why would they do that, I wasn’t sure if I actually wanted it. I didn’t say anything to correct them and Jason said good I’m so pleased that you accepted the offer. I was hoping that you would and bought you a gift……Well it’s technically from the company. He asked us to come out front to see it. There in my driveway was a black sports car and he said this is for you and I hope that you will enjoy it. A Jaguar XKR convertible, who wouldn’t!

I squealed loudly and ran over to sit in it as he handed me the keys he learned in and said one word “Mate”. Had I heard him correctly? I didn’t have time to think about it before the other girls piled in and I asked if we could take it out for a spin. Jason and our parents said yes but don’t go too fast and come back soon as we still have guests and other gifts to open.

I started it and it roared to life with a sexy purr. We drove around the neighborhood and went back quickly to not be too rude to our other guests.

We spent the next two hours opening gifts and loved them all. We each got things that were in line with our chosen career. It was the best party we could have wished for but why did they not get the police involved with the close call we had on our way home. What am I missing, my parents are most definitely over protective. I mean they are the take you to the E.R. for a scraped knee type of over protective. But this they just dropped it like it was nothing.
