Why Should We Punish Them????

"No, no need. Do your shopping and ask them to keep them aside. I will go and pay before coming back home," she answered. I said there is no need for it and then we hung up the call. Phone conversation ends. "What did she say?" He questioned me. "My uncle has fainted in his company. So she has to leave in an emergency," I answered. "Then why didn't she call you or inform you?" He questioned me again. "She called me but I lost my bag somewhere. So, she was unable to reach me," I answered. "Ok, let's go," he said and took me to the meeting room. We sat there and he ordered some soft drinks for us. Nearly ten minutes later the door was opened and the acting CEO came inside. "Sir, those girls' parents are here," he informed us by bowing his head. "Bring them in," he ordered him. He turned to me and said, "Remember whatever happens here, always remember that I am. your friend and always be gentle and love you.. don't get scared ok?" I nodded my head as ok and then we heard the door opening sound. I turned my head to look and he stood up from his place and I followed it. "Good evening, Abhi," they both greeted him and he shook their hands and said, "It's for Mr. Grover to you all," he said and it was a little rude. "Sorry, as you are younger than us and as a senior of our daughters we were sr reckless," they answered by lowering their heads. I felt pain in my heart as they are elders and lowering their heads in shame. "I know you all are older than me and you can call me with names but your daughters made you all lose it," he answered. "What did they do?" They questioned and he said, "Please take your seat and have some refreshments." He made a call and asked to bring some refreshments. After a while refreshments were sent inside. They all took them and after that Abhi narrated the whole scenario that happened in the university and in the mall to them. "Sir, I know you all are good people and have a good reputation. They also have a bright future ahead. Only due to the respect I have for you I didn't take any step. This matter already reached my father and one more thing even though he didn't see her till now he treats her as his own daughter," he said to them. Their faces turned pale and I thought all their blood went away from their body just like that. "We are sorry on their behalf. Please ask your dad to spare us this time and we won't let this happen again," one of the girls' fathers replied. "Why are you apologising? It's not you the one who should apologise," he reminded them and they made their daughters apologise to him. "You girls should apologise to her. Kneel before her and seek for her forgiveness," he ordered them. "What? We have to kneel before her? No, we will never do that," they replied in unison. "It's your wish..we are not forcing you," he said and stood up indicating that the meeting was done. "Please Abhi, give us a chance. We will make them apologise," their father's said and turned to those girls. "Do what he said and seek her forgiveness," they ordered them but the girls were not ready to listen to them. "Abhi, it's ok. Leave them in..their father's are elders and they didn't do anything. Why are you doing this for me?" I whispered in a voice which only he could hear. He glanced at me with his angry eyes and said, "Avi, I already forgave them but I let them go because of you and here they made the same mistake again and if we let them go this time it will repeat which I don't like," he replied back trying to be calm and gentle. We heard a sound of slapping and we turned our attention to them. "Husband, what are you doing? Why are you slapping our daughters? Why should they apologise to a girl who is just reading with the help of scholarship," their mothers said in unison. "Shut up!!! Do you even know what is meant by scholarship? It will be given to the students who do well in their academics. Don't you dare to interfere in this," they warned them and turned to those girls and said, "We didn't raise you like this. We gave you everything and money to make your life easy but not to make you girls as proud and arrogant. Apologise to her." "Uncle it's ok. Let it be this time if this happens again I won't spare them nor I won't stop him," I said despite his decision. He glared at me but I already made my way out from there. He glared at them and followed me out. "What have you done Avi? They could have apologized to you," he said in an angry time. "I know Abhi. I know they would have asked me for my apology but why are you not thinking about their parents? Do you know how a mother feels seeing their daughters bowing their heads in front of no one like me. Even if their father's are asking them to apologize to me as a father, their hearts will be in pain seeing their kids kneeling in front of others. You are thinking that it is punishing them but it's actually a punishment for their parents. Why should they get punished because of their mistakes? Why can't you see the pain in their eyes? You have informed them what they did and I think it's enough," I replied. "This is the reason why I always admire you. That beautiful heart and ability to stand in others' shoes and think from their side are the best qualities in you. But, If you stay like this you can't survive in this cruel world," he said while rubbing his hands on my hair. "Aww, so sweet of you. But, don't say those big words. I don't have parents so I can feel how a parent feel for their kids," a lonely tear escaped from my eyes.
