Chapter 9: A Chance Encounter

Alexander and David packed their bags and headed to the train station. They were both nervous about the upcoming battle but were determined to face it together. As they boarded the train, they found an empty compartment and settled in for the journey.

As they gazed out the window, watching the countryside pass by, they talked about their fears and hopes for the future. They discussed what they would do after the battle was over and wondered if they could ever truly be together in a world that seemed to reject their love.

Suddenly, the compartment door opened, and a young woman stepped inside. She had long brown hair and bright blue eyes and wore a leather jacket and black jeans. She looked at them curiously before speaking.

"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" she asked, gesturing to the empty seat across from them.

Alexander and David looked at each other and then back at the woman. "No, it's not," David replied, smiling warmly at her.

The woman introduced herself as Sofia and took a seat across from them. They chatted for a while, exchanging pleasantries and discussing their destinations. Sofia was on her way to visit her family in the city, and she seemed excited to be reunited with them.

As the conversation continued, Alexander couldn't help but feel drawn to Sofia's free spirit and curious nature. She had a warmth and energy that was infectious, and he found himself smiling more often than usual.

David noticed the change in Alexander's demeanor and felt a pang of jealousy. He had never felt possessive before, but something about Sofia made him uneasy. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he felt a sense of foreboding that he couldn't shake off.

The rest of the journey passed in a blur of small talk and awkward silences. When they arrived at the city, Alexander and David said goodbye to Sofia and left the train, feeling relieved to be away from her.

As they made their way to the council's headquarters, their minds were consumed with thoughts of the upcoming battle. They knew that they had to stay focused if they were going to make it through the fight alive.

But as they walked, David couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. He looked at Alexander, who seemed lost in thought, and wondered if he felt the same way.
