Chapter Two

1279 Words
Sienna's POV “You are late,” I said, folding my arms around my chest. I felt my heart pounding as I tried schooling my expression to be as neutral as possible. Be calm Sienna, you've got this. “So?” He asked, walking fully into the room. “I am here now aren't I? Let's get this over with.” He added, walking past me, and plopping on the couch with his legs crossed on the stool. I scowled, “You should apologize, it's not nice to keep people waiting like that. I have other things to do, you know.” He scoffed, “Things? Don't make me laugh. I am sure you are only saying that so you'll sound different or busy. I know your type.” My hands fell to my sides, and I stared at him, hard. What the hell? Squinting my eyes, I walked up to him, jabbing my finger right at his muscled chest, feeling him tense under my finger. “Listen here, you arrogant prick, not everyone is stupid enough to fall for your self-exhaled ass. I, for one, am that example, so get that into your head.” I hissed, watching his jaw tick and his fists clenched with rage. His gaze flickered to my finger still jabbing at his chest, a dangerous glint flashing as he narrowed his eyes. “How dare you—” “No, how dare you?” I cut him off. “Do you have any idea what I had to miss because of your arrogant ass? No, because you are Mr Captain, and everybody has to kiss your ass!” I spat, face red as I glared at him. I missed my son's event because of him, and I had promised I'd be there. He rose to his feet, his height causing him to suddenly tower over me. “Do you have a death wish Miss… “ “Blake.” I completed, straightening my back despite the death stare I received from him. “Blake Sienna.” I'd be damned if I allowed myself to be intimidated by him. I gave him an equal glare that had him squinting his eyes more. If it were possible, I'd be six feet under. Liam let out a chuckle, one that sounded more like a jeer. “I see you don't value your job.” “And I can say the same to you.” I fired back, palms gripping my coat. “If you aren't aware, then let me spell it out to your face Mr Cross. The reason you are here is because you are on a decline meaning your fame is going down the drain. You are on a ticking time bomb and all this arrogance will have to fade once your fame is gone.” I saw his knuckles tighten, his glare turning deeper as he snarled. “You don't know anything. So if I were you, I'd shut it!” “Oh yeah?” I sassed, “then why are you here? Isn't it because of the knee injury on your right leg? Get this into your head Cross, your time is almost up and you know it. I bet your manager is already tired of you and looking for someone younger. Isn't that why you agreed to come? So you won't get replaced?” His jaw clenched even tighter if that were possible, and for a while we only stared at each other. My heart thumped loudly, and a deep gnawing guilt reared its ugly head, poking at my insides. I felt bad for my words, but someone needed to tell him. His arrogance was just too loud, and I couldn't stand it. Not when I needed an outlet for my frustration. Tension rose in the air between us as the silence dragged on. It was unnerving. I pressed my lips into a thin line refusing to give in, until he moved first. Liam ran a hand through his hair, his jaw still tense from the argument or whatever we just had, but one thing I confirmed was that he officially hated me. It was bad that he couldn't recognize me, but now, I had made him hate me. Wasn't this what I wanted? Why was I feeling bad when he didn't even like me? We didn't have feelings in the first place, so why was I feeling… sad? Snap out of it Sienna. “Sorry.” “What?” I blinked, staring at Liam in disbelief as the words failed to register in my head. Did he just apologize for earlier or was I hearing things? “You deaf or something? Or are you just trying to get me to repeat myself?” He snapped, hands shoved violently into his shorts pockets, they threatened to slide off his waist. “Ah, I didn't hear you.” I shook my head sheepishly, but he didn't bother to spare me another glance. “Whatever, let's get this over with.” He said, going over to the couch. “Alright.” I followed, picking up my clipboard and moving over to him to start the therapy. It felt so weird. Everything felt so weird. One minute we were up our throats and I felt like he was this close to snapping my neck off to this. “Okay… so you have a fracture on your knee as well as a sprain on the same ankle which causes joint and muscle pain.” I started off, confirming the things I had read on the report, looking up to see him with a heavy frown on. “Keep stating at the obvious.” He mocked, sending me a toothy grin that made me wince mentally. “Look, I am only following procedures.” “Well you are dumb at it.” Here we go again. I sighed tiredly, pressing my temples to ease out the right muscles. “It's not my fault you can't deal with simple facts. I am not going to baby you like the rest and accept your tantrum like you are some big baby.” “Wow. That's rich.” He let out a small laugh, sinking deeper into the couch. “Just because I let you talk to me that way the first time doesn't mean I'll let you keep doing so Blake. Watch it.” “Are you threatening me? Or is it so surprising no one's ever called you out for who you are?” I tilted my head, dropping the clipboard I was holding on the table, truly studying him for the first time since he came in. On his fingers were a neat row of jewelry that seemed to be hanging off every part of his body, from his neck to his left ear that held a stud. His blood hair was roughly tousled, matching the tank top he was wearing. It hugged his muscles and now that I looked at him I realized he might have been coming from the gym. “Watch it.” Liam repeated, standing to his feet, his face hovering close to mine with his huge frame caging me in. My heart skipped a beat, at the position. I had no idea how we even ended up like this in the first place. Feeling him move closer, I held my breath, his own hot breath fanning my ears as he spoke. “Or you might end up losing more than your job Blake. Fame or not, I have my ways.” I tensed, clenching my shaky palms into fists as I watched him leave. Again. It happened again. Just like that night.
