2873 Words

There are probably mature ways to react when your husband remembers he was supposed to marry another woman. I couldn't think of any. Callan stood perfectly still with the phone pressed to his ear. Callan closed his eyes. "Sabine." "You remember my name." "I remember pieces." "How much?" "A house. My father. You." That last one was unnecessarily irritating. "The hospital," he added. Silence. Then Sabine said, "Oh." Callan's eyes opened. "Who was the woman?" "What woman?" "The woman in the hospital bed." A pause. "You remember her?" "Dark hair. Gold eyes. She told me I'd forget."
