Sara's POV
Each day kept going same way till that grade was over
And it was time for the next grade, the one before I finally leave that place of torment
My brother was back and was already registered as a new student
I kept praying he won't face what I've been facing,he had never been the outspoken type and that made my fear linger
I guess after a month,we'd know about that, for now we've got a lot more to plan
I made an online friend, his name is Mars, cute name right?
We exchanged pictures and he's really really cute.
That's just it though,I feel free when texting him and there's this good connection I get
But something seems off about him, just can't place my hand about it.
It doesn't matter that much though,he's my only friend,I won't let some awful feelings get the best.
(phone rings)
It's him.
I answered the call,we talked for what seemed like eternity and for a moment I felt like I was in heaven.
Finally, someone who wasn't family cared, and talked to me like I'm human without mocking me,after a long while I slept off on the call
And I guess I woke up on resumption dayyyyyyy😪
Writer's corner: Fr Sara, how did you sleep so long?😹😹
Justin's POV
I got ready to report at my new school, not sure if my sis is getting ready for school too
Because she's still in bed,or so I thought
"Justin,you're up" she said
"Yes sis,morning"
"Where's mum"She asked
"In her room, she's a bit down, you'd have to drive us in your scooter"
"Oh no,let me go check on her"she said and moved upstairs
My sister must be scared that we'd lose mum too,but I know we won't,my mum is the strongest woman I've seen, she's been through so much after dad's death but didn't let it define her, that's why we ain't on the street right now
I'd go get her some tea.
Sara's POV
"Why would mum be sick?Holy Jesus, keep her safe for me" I thought as I went up the stairs
I walked in and met her in bed, staring at dad's picture in tears.
I knew it was hard for her. The loneliness, her husband gone, her best friend was in another city and barely had time to call,no siblings,no external family, even from my paternal home
We too are busy most times, and also dealing with the same loneliness
I sat on the bed and held her hands, comforting her
"We'd be fine mum,give it time"I said
I squeezed myself into her arms and stayed for a while till she fell back asleep, then I went down to get dressed for school
Finally everything was set,I called Justin and we both got on the scooter while I drove slowly
Justin's POV
On our way, I noticed my sis was nervous and I hummed so as to calm her down
Suddenly the glass of a car that started moving at the same pace with us went down.
"Scooter girl, what happened to mummy? She didn't bring you to school" The girl inside said with a tone of mockery
"Back down Wanni, ain't you tired?" my sis said with a weak frown.
"Hmmph, and who's this loser with you?"
"Hey,I'm not a loser,it's people like you who go about poke nosing that should be addressed as losers"I said
Sara's face widened, she must be surprised that I could now speak out. Well, that's what boarding school taught me,It's you against the world over there.
"Looks like you're her little brother or should I say bastard, because you don't have a father"she said
"You're the bastard here because a bastard is someone who's father ain't doing his responsibilities, looking at you, your father has failed greatly.
I shot back every word she threw and she angrily asked her driver to move faster.
Sara's POV
Was that Justin just now?
Wow,I need to learn from him.
Would I have said anything if he wasn't here? I think I should learn from him to speak out.
To Fight.
