Chapter Two: Breaking Into The Pentagon

2466 Words
Peter had been driven with the three men there, he had gotten to learn their names and actually know them better. Well, slightly better. He didn't know much about Charles yet other than him knowing the guy they're breaking out, which he still had not been given a name yet so he thought of bringing that up. "Who exactly are we breaking out?" He really already knew who they were breaking out of the Pentagon, but he wanted to be absolutely sure. He had studied a lot about it and knew it had to be where that certain someone was, but he still wasn't absolutely sure. "Erik Lehnsherr. He controls metal, he is a very dangerous individual." Hank explains, not mentioning anything about the crimes he committed to get there. "That's... interesting. That name sounds somewhat familiar." Peter tried to play it off as if he was hearing his name for the first time, but, of course he couldn't forget his own father's name. "He is Magneto, right?" Peter slipped up, forgetting that he wasn't supposed to know that yet. "How do you know that he is-?" Charles seemed in between upset and curious, Peter just assumed being upset was a part of his entire character at this point. Logan seemed to give him a knowing look, like he knew what Peter had meant. He was such an odd but interesting character, Peter definitely hadn't met him before but now he was thinking he should've. "Oh... I, uh... I heard it on TV, of course." Peter shrugged it off, hoping the other two would buy it and leave him alone about it. Hank bought it and just assumed the public released his actual name, Charles didn't believe a word Peter had said. He knew Peter's father too well, apparently. "Another time, Peter." Logan whispered, Peter gave him a confused gaze but kept his silence near him. He really didn't know what he meant though. "You know what I mean." But Peter REALLY didn't know what he meant, was he supposed to know? This was all so confusing and new for him. From what he heard, this Logan guy was someone from the future. Which interested Peter to the point of hyperness, because if he knew the future, he'd know some things Peter had been dying to find out. Like what the 2000s would be like, what science had managed to do and screw up in the future, and... more personal things. Though, he wasn't sure if Logan had the answer to the personal things. They could be just acquaintances in the future, though Logan seemed like he really did know Peter. At least, he acted like it. They were almost there, they would've probably already been there if Peter drove instead and Hank gave him directions, but they wouldn't let him drive due to the lack of license he had. "How.. was Erik? You know, since you seem to know a lot about him. Was he always... you know.. a murderer?" Peter suddenly asks, referring to Charles who was currently driving, and was now more tense than ever because of Peter's question towards him. "...He was always a monster. There was always rage within him. He could not and will not be fixed or made better again." He was most definitely pissed off, so Peter decided on not asking him anymore questions and just stayed the silent most of the ride. He didn't want to make the person who was driving them there mad, that was a bad idea in any situation. Peter was sure Charles was just upset, his father couldn't have always started out as a monster. His mother at least liked him once, so there had to be some sort of good left in him. Even if it was small. They pulled up, Peter headed inside without saying another word. He already knew what he had to do, most of his goals, and where he was going to find him. He just had to carry out with the plan without getting caught, nothing could go wrong, it was basically a break out of jail type of scenario. He swapped clothes with a guy he beat up and taped to the wall, making himself disguised to the cameras as he waited for the elevator to go down. He stared at the food, it was plain, but it was jail food. He put a note on top, "Watch Out For The Glass". It would be bad if his first impression of Peter was him being the asshole who dumped glass pieces on him. Though, seeing how Charles acted when he brought Erik up, maybe he'd prefer him to do that. The elevator door opened as Peter slowly walked out with the food container in hand, the glass kinda reminded him of aquarium glasses but instead of their being a fish under him it was an actual person. Peter wondered if they had put anyone else here, like his father was put here. He actually had no clue what Erik had done to get here, just that he was apparently a self-righteous asshole. He couldn't remember which of the three men called him that, but it seemed to fit all of them either way. So he didn't look into it too much. There was a small slip to put the food down to him, which seemed pretty unsafe considering Erik was deemed as dangerous, but there wasn't any metal allowed past this point. There's no way he would be able to get out. Without Peter's help, of course. He put the food down to him, waiting for him to at least have a few seconds to read it. Which was agonizing because staying still was very much hard for him, and everything else was just moving way too slow unlike his brain and entire body. His mutation was convenient to have, but it also made him so impatient and made the rest of the world so much more unbearable to wait for. Erik looked at the tray for a minute and then looked up at Peter, Peter began to tap on the glass with his hands extremely fast to the point the glass and him were vibrating. The glass had entirely broke due to the pressure and vibration, the pieces scattering all over as Erik managed to avoid getting cut from them, climbing out of the imprisonment. He got a few cuts, but that was expected due to the amount of glass pieces there were. Peter had managed to miss all of them due to his speed, which he wasn't worried about in the first place. The alarm began to go off as soon as the glass broke, it had still triggered it. Erik paced for the door, "In three seconds, those doors are going to open. And twenty guards will be here to shoot us." Peter zipped towards him, his hand on his neck for a while "I know, that's what I'm waiting for." Erik was confused by the sudden touch, turning to Peter. "What are you doing?" Peter quickly answered, "I'm holding your neck so you don't get whiplash." Erik seemed dumbfounded, "What?" Peter assumed he was either having a concussion or some sort of sickness due to the amount of glass pieces, so he talked a little slower. "Whi-ip-la-ash." The doors opened, just as Erik had predicted. Men with guns coming in and yelling at them to not move, which inspired Peter to zip past them with Erik. They couldn't even react or see him, they did fall due to the overwhelming speed going past them though. The two men got into the elevator, Peter immediately swapped clothes back, checking his watch. Hopefully, Charles and Logan had made it in the building alright. He was mostly worried about Logan. Erik looked back at him for a minute, blinking a little. He decided not to ask or bother about Peter's clothes, not seeing it as anything important right now. His brain was still dazed from being in the Pentagon for so long, so he was trying to think of what to do. "You're good, it'll pass. It happens with everyone." Peter commented, assuming he was still shocked from the amount of speed. "Must've done something pretty serious." Erik didn't want to talk right now, still holding himself up against the wall and blinking. "What'd you do, man? What'd you do?" Peter tried to be as annoying as possible to get a little of an answer out of the older, more dazed and tired man. "What'd you do? Why'd they have you in there?" He gets more annoying, seeing he wasn't getting anywhere close yet. Erik gets a little fed up, though he wasn't as angry in his dazed and confused state. "For killing the president." Peter nodded, now understanding what he did. His eyes rolled slightly to the guy taped to the wall, now clearly in shock. He mouthed 'wow', then whispered to himself. "Shit..." This was not good, but at least he got to meet him, and grab a few trinkets on the way. The guy just raised an eyebrow at him, he was not very good at emotional support for Peter. "The only thing I'm guilty of is fighting for people like us." Erik was serious about this, it could be possible he was framed and not actually the person who did it. "You take karate? You know Karate, man?" Peter raised an eyebrow slightly at him, trying to calm his nerves with a little conversation with the man. "I don't know Karate. But I know crazy." Erik answered, his eyes rolling a bit to the left to look at him. Peter had no idea what that meant, but laughed a little for... encouragement? Of some kind? It was weird to actually talk to his biological father, he imagined conversations with him before, but most of the time it was him telling him he was his son. Not breaking him out of the Pentagon and talking about going crazy. But maybe it was a blessing disguised as a curse. It had been a few minutes now, Peter was dying from the silence. "They told me you could control metal." He suddenly brought up, hoping to spite something out of the older man. "They?" "You know, my mom once knew a guy that could do that!" Peter says enthusiastically, a smile coming to his face. Erik looked very perplexed now, weird. Peter watched as the elevator opened, seeing both Logan and Charles there. He smiled, showing him he did it. Mostly for Logan, he assumed Charles was too grouchy to care what he did right. Charles seemed... a bit different right now though. Erik stared at Charles in confusion and shock, "Charles?" Charles seemed to only hear static, pulling back then punching Erik square in the mouth. Hard enough it was audible. Peter was even more confused, getting back so he wouldn't also meet the older man's rage. Erik was knocked to the ground due to the punch, the sound made Peter flinch due to the aggressiveness. Charles must really not like him. Erik got up slightly, feeling his lip to see traces of blood. Charles had drawn blood somehow. Charles stood over him in the elevator, Erik looked up at him in both shock and dizziness. Charles glared down at him, Erik rolled his eyes and looked back down. "Good to see you too, old friend." He snaps, making his way up. "And walking..." Charles was more miserably angry, huffing. "No thanks to you." Erik got up fully from the ground, gazing at Charles. "You're the last person I'd expect to see today." "Believe me, I wouldn't be here if I didn't have to. If we get you out of here, we do it my way. No killing." Charles looked at him sternly, his stare sending daggers. Erik smiles, pointing to his head. "No helmet. I couldn't disobey you, even if I wanted." His tone was something mixed in with both playful and flirty, and it was awkward to listen to. Peter just watched as they went back and forth, now thinking his mother was right to keep Erik away from him. After all, if this is how they fought and acted together... Peter was subconsciously shaking but tried to ignore it, his mom and her former boyfriends always fought the same way. The same flirty, yet angry tones. Charles comes close to him again, "I'm never getting inside that head again." He got all in his face, staring at him with sternness and seriousness. "I need your word, Erik." Peter was basically dazed at this point, only remembering bad memories due to the events that were happening in front of him. The two men definitely used to be together, at least one of them had thought so once. He could tell from how they fought, how they playful tone Erik had was. It wasn't a good relationship, he knew from experiencing it in front of his eyes, but there was definitely something. Erik nodded slightly at Charles request, suddenly the door opening with more armed guards shouting at them to not move. "Charles?" He looked at his old friend for any sort of help, as if asking him to do something. "Charles, freeze them." Charles looked at them, shaking his head. "I can't..." Erik decided on dealing with the guards himself, seeing the metal pan and just about lifting it up to kill the guards before Charles grabbed his right side. He was still trying to stop him. "Erik, no!" Peter noticed the guns going off as time froze, making his was in front of the group and hurrying to get the bullets out of the way. He also stole a few things during it, but no one said he couldn't. It unfroze once again, the water annoyingly drenching him. All the guards were down though. The three men in front of him calmed down, Logan's claws were nearly out as he headed towards the guards only to see them already on the ground unconscious. After that, they headed out to the plan, where Hank was. Peter followed close behind, since Logan had convinced Charles into bringing him along just in case they needed him once more. This, luckily, gave Peter more time to see who his biological father was, get to know Logan more, and finally actually tell Erik he's his son. He wasn't certain how long this was going to take though. Those things he wanted to do might've been too much for what they were planning, but at least he could help out. He had to thank Logan for getting the grouchy professor to let him stay on the mission though, must've been a challenge of it's own.
