Chapter 7
I kept a lookout for the Buick. I didn’t see it or anything else suspicious. It was a pleasant afternoon. I made myself an old fashioned and sat out in the backyard watching the clouds and thought. “I wonder if Maggie is safe? Surely they took my advice and went underground for a while.” Then my thoughts turned to who killed Alex. It had to be someone in the company. Was the CEO involved? Did he even know what was happening in accounting? The CFO would. I think I will research him. I got up with my drink and headed inside to my computer, then stopped. I bet they have hacked it to see if the company files are on it. Maybe they bugged the house while I was gone, and indeed they are monitoring it. I set my drink down and headed for a Starbucks that was close to the public library.
