“Do you want to be turned into a goat? That’s what will happen,” Yeolani declared.
“Really? I thought you Wise Ones were all about honor. You would never do something so petty as turning me into a goat,” Dayvian replied as he stuffed an extra set of clothing into the pack he had borrowed. He was determined to leave Vamilion’s wondrous palace in the mountains as soon as he could.
“Not me, but Owailion will.” Yeolani flopped down on the bed beside Dayvian’s bag and stared in frustration at the ceiling of the bedchamber while Dayvian packed. “He won’t see you. You’ll freeze to death on his doorstep.”
“Not if you go with me,” Dayvian replied and threw spools of guitar string on top of his clothing. “You would have a better idea of how to beg a Heart Stone than I will.”
