Chapter 3

934 Words
The encounter We headed into the woods like I saw in my dream. It was about 8:30pm at this time. Our head lamps shone bright enough to direct our pathway. I followed the exact path i had seen in my dream. Then we got to the spot I saw in my dream, where Althea woke me up. We began to hear rumblings, we ran in opposite direction of where the sounds were coming from. We got to the edge of a steep cliff and in the twinkle of an eye, the ground gives way beneath us leaving us to land in a disoriented pile of God knows what. As we gathered ourselves we saw figures, they were like humans but it was like their eyes were filled with fire and they made growling sounds. “Did they just shapeshift? Shitttt—Luna runnnn” Althea screamed as we both watched these human figures change into dog like creatures twice their size. We ran but it seemed like we were no match for them. They were two of them, they surrounded us leaving Althea and i in the middle, they looked us straight in the eyes ready to devour us with saliva dripping from their mouths while they made growling sounds. “Stop!!! Leah and Jesse, back to the pack at once!” A male figure standing a few meters away from us yelled. His eyes were the same color as mine back at the hospital. For some reason I felt safe when I saw him. He was about six feet, dark curly brown hair, with a jaw line like he was carved by angels, he wore an ash colored tshirt but I could visibly see he had the perfect body with abs and a torso an teenager my age would die for. He looked like he was in his mid twenties but there was something majestic about him, i forgot about the twice human sized creatures that were about to devour my best friend and I. I was lost in my thoughts when I didn’t notice when they shapeshifted back to humans. I was called back to reality when Althea shook me narrowing her brows in a way that meant her saying “seriously? “. “She’s one of us, come” He said signaling us to follow him. I nodded to Althea meaning we could trust him. After walking for a while, we halted when we got to a cabin in the middle of no where. No one would know that such a thing ever existed. It was big enough to contain a 100 people or more. Finally gathering enough courage to break the silence as we entered the cabin. “Who are you? And what just happened there? Something tells me you know what’s happening to me”. “Jace and this is my pack, well not all of us. I must apologize for the display out there. They thought you were an intruder and were only protecting our territory and yes, I do know what’s happening to you”. “They were going to kill us” I sobbed before going ahead to ask him more questions. “So what are you? Human sized dogs? Or shapeshifters in a pack or something? And how did I know where to come to? What if something else had happened? I mean, I almost died in a crash, did you see that too? I should be with my parents now, but I’m here in the middle of no where with a pack of human sized dogs whom I know nothing about after some tried to kill my best friend and I” “Easy, love. You have questions that need answers but why don’t I begin with the correction. We are no dogs. It may sound funny to you and your friend but we’re werewolves and you just activated your curse”. “What curse and werewolves? Is this some kind of joke or—? Ohh! I see” “When you had the crash you killed someone, you’re from a bloodline of werewolves and it can only the activated when you kill someone” “No way, f**k! I killed someone?” I questioned while sobbing then I remembered the accident that had happened the previous day. “Anyways, make yourself at home, your friend can also stay here for a while as long as she doesn’t cause any troubles. Tomorrow all your questions would be answered. For now you should both get some rest” He said while showing us a room. We began to unpack a few things we had in our back pack when Althea broke the silence. “So you’re a werewolf? I mean that’s great, we were almost killed but we’re alive and that’s all that matters an—ddd, he’s hot as hell”. “Seriously , Althea? Hot?” I mean, he was hot but I had to deny it considering the fact that we almost got killed but my crazy ass best friend was excited instead. Althea was an energetic and extroverted person, unlike me. We were complete opposites but we complimented each other so well. I mean, we were like soul mates until, we had our little fight but here we are, in the middle of no where sitting in a strangers house. We got to shower and got some rest. It was a quiet night and I was kind of excited to see him the next day and also find out what is wrong with me exactly.
