"I could die tonight Way out of my zone You got me Frozen Head to toe," Natalia's POV: Dark. I saw only dark and deep woods when I looked around. But I didn't stop. I ran kilometer after kilometer on my bare feet over the raw path in the jungle, in the middle of the night. Every step felt like it was the last step of my life. Only moonlight was showering the raw path. I was so afraid of jungle creatures. Though I hadn't heard about any tiger or bear in this jungle but that doesn't mean it was safe. What if some wild creatures attack me? When I got out of Nicolas's house, some wild creature could easily eat me and nobody would ever find me. Was it a bad decision to escape, I thought again and again. My mouth was dry, my legs felt numb and my full body was aching and burning. But I had to run. I had to escape from this hell. I didn't know how long I was running in the scary forest alone. Fear and loneliness were engulfing me, tears rolling down incessantly at the same time. But then, I found the lights of hope. A large smile appeared on my lips and I cried in victory when I saw the main road of the town come into view. In the meantime, the darkness started fading away as the yellow glow started appearing on the east horizon. I laughed and stepped on the road while tears rolled down my cheeks. A yellow cab stopped in front of me and I gasped in fear. I was crying hard so I didn't notice it was coming. "Are you alright, child?" An old cab driver asked but was shocked to seeing me in that state. I was totally messed up and my feet were bleeding as I fell several times while running. My face was burning for crying hour after hour. I scanned him for a few moments and thought he was no harm. He seemed honest and a normal old cab driver. "Please can you drive me to the third block, road no. 5 and house no. 15? I have no money right now but I'll pay you getting at that house." I sobbed and wiped my eyes with the back of my palm. "Don't worry about money, child. Get in, I'll drive you home safely." He assured me and gave me a soft smile. As soon as I got into the car, he started the engine. I sighed in relief and looked outside. "What happened to you, dear? What were you doing beside the forest this early?" "It's a long story. I was kidnapped and then I escaped." "Oh my god, you've to go to the police station right now!" He panicked. "I'm Officer Jacob Hernandez's neighbor. And I'm heading to his home. Please drive quickly." "Wait. You're the girl who was kidnapped a few days ago and so is her family. Police arrived at your house that night and found blood everywhere in the kitchen. But they still have no clue about that kidnapping incident." "Yes. I'm that girl." I whispered in a broken tone. "Don't cry, my child. We're almost there. I'm Michael. What's your name?" "Natalia." "Nice name, Natalia." He smiled. Fifteen minutes passed by as he reassured and comforted me. I appreciated his concern about me as he seemed like a very caring and honest man. Apparently, I was lucky because at that time it was totally unexpected to get a cab on that road. He was getting back to work by that road and saw me there. I got out of the cab when it stopped in front of Uncle Jacob's house. I looked at my once home sweet home that was now sealed by the police department. Everything was quiet and gloomy in our street. "Thank you so much. You've done an unforgettable favor. I'll never forget your kindness." I looked at Michael with teary eyes and smiled sadly. "Don't thank me, child. You're like my daughter though I haven't one. I would help anyone if they fell in danger." He smiled and patted my shoulder. "Wait. Your payment." I stopped him when he was about to get in the cab. "Don't shame me, Natalia. I said you're like my daughter. And a father doesn't take charge of her daughter." He smiled and opened the driver's seat door. "Wait." I ran toward him and hugged him as he hugged me back. "Stay safe, my child." He patted my back. "See you again, Michael." I smiled and waved at him. "See you, Natalia." He smiled and drove away. I let out a long sigh and knocked on Uncle Jacob's door. I was thinking about how would they react to seeing me early in the morning after many days. I was wondering if Uncle Jacob was home or not. A few minutes passed and then I heard footsteps. The door cracked open and I met Uncle Jacob, Auntie Hannah was standing behind him. When they saw me, their eyes went wide and their mouth slightly opened. "Natalia?" Uncle Jacob mumbled in shock. "Oh my God! Talia baby?" Auntie Hannah gasped. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I started crying. Hannah ran toward me and quickly wrapped me in her arms and pulled me into the house. "Talia baby, how did this happen? Why are you bruised? Where were you?" She panicked and cupped my cheeks. "I've searched for you everywhere. I even contacted the city police and the international airport authority but we got no sign of you and your family. Where were you, Talia baby?" Uncle Jacob said urgently. "Talk to me! Talia baby? How did this happen?" Auntie Hannah cupped my cheeks and then hugged me tightly. "Water, please." I rasped. I couldn't say anything. My mouth and throat were dry. I was so exhausted and afraid. If he found out I was gone, he would be so mad. But I had to find my parents and I couldn't stay with him after what he had done to me. Uncle Jacob sat me down on the couch. Auntie Hannah ran to the kitchen and brought me a glass of water. I gulped the whole glass of water in one blink. "I escaped." I sniffed. "Tell us everything from the beginning." Uncle Jacob looked at me and rubbed my back. I told them everything about how it started, the club, how he kidnapped me and everything. They were shocked to hear about the horrible incident. "I don't know where my family is. I don't know if he killed them or not." I sniffed. "We went to your house getting a phone call from a passerby and saw everything was messed up. The kitchen was smeared with blood and everything was broken. Nobody was there." Uncle Jacob muttered. "We got no clues at first but then Fardinn called me hearing the news. He told me everything. Do you remember his face? Who is he?" "I heard they called him Nicolas. He looked so dangerous and covered in tattoos. Everybody was dangerous around him. He has three friends named Victor, John, and Stephen. They also looked so scary and covered in tattoos. They locked me inside a house situation inside the forest." I sobbed. "What? Did he do anything bad with you?" Auntie Hannah squeezed my palms. I knew what she meant. We had s*x and he did force me for that but it wasn't a r**e. Right now I couldn't tell them about it. I would explain to her later. "No," I whispered as Auntie Hannah sighed in relief. "Thank God!" Uncle Jacob rubbed his palms on his face and sighed. He then tapped something on his phone and turned the screen to me. My breath hitched. I stopped breathing and my eyes went wide. It was a smokey picture of Nicolas. A cigarette was placed between his luscious lips, his blue eyes were dark, and looking at the camera as he was looking at me and ready to kill me. "It's him. It's him! He's the monster who hurt me every day. He's the monster who beat my father and granny in front of me and my baby brother! It's him!" I started crying again. "Relax, Talia! You're safe now! I won't let anyone hurt you ever!" Uncle Jacob grabbed my arms and uttered. "Relax. You're safe. I'm here. Nobody's gonna hurt you anymore." He pulled me closer and hugged me tightly. I cried on his chest. "Oh my God! What's happening, Jac? Look at her. I can't take this. Oh, my Talia baby!" Auntie Hannah hugged my back and cried. "This bastard's death is written in my hands!" Uncle Jacob hissed through his gritted teeth.
