Chapter 4-1

1783 Words

Chapter 4 The fog had cleared – well, visibility had now returned to the customary ten metres – and we were in a part of the sector that I didn’t know. We’d followed the guidance of my compass and, I assumed, were fast approaching the border between Sector D and Sector C. I had no idea whatsoever to expect – I’d never travelled so far north before. I’d met a few people who’d gone with the Shoovers from Sector C on drainage duty, but they’d always been blindfolded until they reached their destination, so they weren’t much help. We were able to move faster now. Ten metres visibility meant that we wouldn’t bump into anything and we felt confident enough to break into a brisk walk. I wondered why Sestra was still holding my hand. Maybe she was worried that I would change my mind and run off.
