"Why do you only hear me say that to you when something happens between us? Aubree… I'll just remind you that I say those words almost every day, I love you, while you moan my name, whether or not something happened between us! Even in texts, I don't miss a beat. You're the only one who doesn't," I just laughed at what he said, I was just kidding, he was too serious.
Of the two of us. He's the one who always says I love you, I miss you. I just fight with him, my day is complete.
"I love you. I love you. I love you Ryker Matt Sullivaño!" I shouted even though he was close to me. I just wanted to let all the sea creatures and plants around us know how much I love this man. "Okay boss? There's still tomorrow, I promise," I said before eating the banana chips we bought on the side of the road. He was combing my hair with his fingers.
"No take backs, you said it. You might take it back again and give me hope."
"Just kidding… "
"Aubree Lynn! "
"Bleeh, just eat some banana chips so you can calm down." I handed him the chips near his mouth.
"Tsk" he complained, so I just laughed.
"Grumpy!"
It was only three o'clock in the afternoon and we were going home after sunset. Because of what he was doing to my hair, I slowly closed my eyelids until I fell asleep on Ryker's thigh.
I woke up and there was no one next to me. I opened my eyes and saw that it was already dark, I looked around. Wondering why I was alone.
"Ryker! Ry… Where are you?" I called out to him. I stood up to look for him, but I couldn't find a trace of him. "What's going on? Ryker! Ryker please.. where are you? I'm scared Ryker. Don't hide from me please." I shouted. I looked at the sea, maybe someone was swimming, but there was nothing, "Ryker! Where are you? Show yourself please, I'm scared." I could barely see the way because of the tears in my eyes.
I just sat down on the sand because I couldn't even see Ryker's shadow. "Ryker?" I saw someone walking in the distance, so I wiped my tears to see who it was. It was Ryker, "Ryker!" I called out to him, but he didn't even look back, he just kept walking, so I ran to catch up with him, "Ryker! Wait! Wait for me please.. please come back." I cried, but he was gone.
I was going to run again, but I fell into a ravine?
"Ahhh… ."
I sat up in bed because of the loud ringtone of my phone.
Someone was calling.
I picked it up and closed my eyes again, remembering a bit of my dream. Out of all the people who could enter my dream, it was the useless person. He's still doing the same thing. He left me begging for him to come back to me.
"Hello Lanie, what's up?" I asked my friend on the other line while fixing my sitting position on our bed.
"Hello beh, I have news for you."
"What is it?"
"Are you still not okay today?" I got nervous at her question.
"I'm feeling a bit better, I guess, because I've taken my medicine," my head just ached because of my dream. Thank goodness I don't have a cold anymore.
"You know what day! Our new boss visited to see the whole building and you know what ahhhh," I moved my phone away from my ear because Lorna, Annaliza and Lanie screamed together as if they saw a celebrity.
"Hey! What happened to you? You might get hit by files from other staff if you get noisy. And why are you screaming? It's like you saw a celebrity," I said, rolling my eyes. These women really, I thought they were loyal to the Elizcalde band, right?
"He's so handsome day!" Annaliza said.
"He's more handsome than any celebrity, day, he looks like he came from heaven and just fell to earth to make me fall in love," Lanie said.
"Eww, you're so ambitious," we said at the same time. So I just laughed. These women are so silly.
"Is that all you're going to call me, huh? That you saw a handsome guy and you even called me before me, his secretary?"
"That's why, because day, you know what? This is why we called you. He's really handsome, but but ha… Day Aubree, he's so grumpy, you know he was looking for his secretary and when we said you weren't in because you had a fever, he got angry." Lorna complained to me.
"W-what did he say?" I asked nervously.
"He said that if you still don't come in tomorrow, you're fired, day, and he'll look for a new one. What now?" My chest went up and down because of the bad news my workmates gave me.
"Gosh, is that boss crazy? He's just new and I don't even know he's going there today! Tell him that I'm coming in tomorrow, I'm coming in tomorrow to show him that I deserve the company I work for as a secretary and he won't find anyone more hardworking than me! Is he crazy?"
My mouth was running without brakes when I told them, thank goodness my friends listened to what I wanted to say, I was fuming with anger for no reason.
For sure, in the few months I've been working at that company, am I going to back down, that's where my children live because of the big salary. If it takes you a few years or five, your whole family is free to go on vacation abroad and everything expensive is covered by the company if you show good work, so who am I to be suddenly fired by this new CEO.
I heard my friends get quiet, I looked at my phone and thought they were gone, but the timer was still on.
"What are you all staring blankly at? Do you think I won't fight for my right to be sick and not be able to go to work, tell him that whatever work I have waiting for me tomorrow, I can finish it in two hours or one. Tell that to our new CEO boss, okay?" I reminded my friends. The lady were speechless.
"Then, prove it to me… Miss… Corpez," a male voice suddenly answered, my eyes widened.
