The air was thick with tension as the massive beast loomed before them, its glowing yellow eyes locking onto Alex. Derek’s voice had been sharp, commanding, his instincts telling Alex to stay still. The slightest movement could trigger the creature’s rage, and it would be a fight Alex wouldn’t survive. Alex, however, had other ideas. He hated the idea of being passive, of doing nothing while Derek—someone he despised—stood there in all his strength, calm and collected.
