Maya stood on the cracked pavement outside Lexa's house, her fists clenched tightly by her sides. The chilly evening air nipped at her skin, but it was nothing compared to the cold knot of anxiety twisting in her stomach. The huge and magnificent looking house with its high walls and a lawn that showed it was well taken care of was a stark contrast to the warm, inviting homes she was used to. She had been standing there for at least five minutes, trying to summon the courage to knock. It seemed as if her hand was stuck or glued by her sides and it just made it hard for her to decide what exactly she should do. "This is insane," she muttered to herself. "What am I even doing here?"
